From 500 till 1080 AD there weren't any big changes to the town, but when Kennemerburgh got city rights in 1080 the building frenzy started...
First, city walls were built around the "center". Then canals were dug, and the St. Peter's church was extended. Also an abbey was added to the church. There was a new marketplace, with a market building. This trade made Kennemerburgh a very important city.

The Market with market building, the little white building is the old fishmarket.
