a working AK-47, with a removable red-dot scope, two 12-brick magazines, and loads more stuff!
About this creation
during the long break of nearly 2 weeks, i was trying and failing (several times) to build a PP-19 Bizon. finally i realised that the Bizon was one of those guns where it is just impossible to recreate a working model. still, that got me thinking - why not make the gun that the Bizon was based on - the AK-47! up until recently, i did not have a mech that could be used inside the body of an AK, as my closed bolt mech needs quite a tall receiver to work in, due to the big rotating arm. but my new open-bolt mech... was perfect!
this model features:
-working mech
-red/black colour scheme
-2 removable 12-brick magazines
-removable stock
-working sights - with working flip-up long range mech
-removable red-dot sight complete with side-mounted RIS attachment
if i think of anything else ill mention it later.

my AK works on the same principle as my UMP - the cocking handle pulls back the 'hammer', squeezing past the top brick in the mag as it goes. when the handle is fully cocked, the hammer locks back, so the handle can be released forward. when you pull the trigger, the hammer is released, and as it flies forward it hits the back of the brick in the mag, pushing it up into the barrel and then shooting it out the end.
the sights are adjustable in the way that they can be flipped up for longer ranges or locked down for more close-quarters use. a working red-dot sight is also available, and clips onto an L shaped RIS which in turn clips onto the left side of the gun. on the real gun, i think they do this because the top of the receiver wobbles as it is loosely attached, so you would lose your zero every other step you take.
---edit: as so many of you commented on the fact that the mag had a gaping hole in it, ive re-done both mags so they look better. i havent a clue why i didnt do this earlier!---

 the two pieces can obviously be separated, so you could add something other than a red-dot
 the RIS package all attached
 the fore-grip, gas tube, fore-sight and muzzle
 the slightly blocky stock - i ran out of red flats
 the receiver+ red-dot. note the fire selector/ dust cover is permanently set to fire
 rear sight in short range configuration
 and in long range. the movable bar is what you aim up against, and its also what locks the sights closed against the pin at the back
 the pin-type fore-sight
 FPS with red-dot
 FPS without it
 aiming with sights in CQB mode
 aiming in long-range mode (youll be lucky to hit anything very far away with an AK ;)
 aiming with red-dot
 insides of the scope
 stock removed
 and again, but no scope
 with the stock removed, you can see some of the insides - the white bit just under the 'roof' is the back of the bolt
 magazine well - the yellow half-liftarms are the hammer release mech
 field strip
 mech, bolt and hammer forward
 mech, cocking handle cocked (and so the hammer is as well)
 handle forward, hammer back (ready for firing). that little red bit above the trigger is the part of the hammer that is pulled back by the bolt. the rest of the hammer is hidden from view...
 but it looked something like this (this is actually the hammer from the UMP, i forgot to take a pic of the AKs hammer)
 the trigger pulled, showing how the hammer release tilts to release it
 the side of the fore-grip removed. four of the bands at the top go to the hammer, the other one goes to the cocking handle.
 here you can see the red bit that i talked about earlier, that show that the gun is cocked.

Wow, this has to be the BEST Lego weapon I've ever seen, and to top it off, it actually fires! I also noticed that almost all of the comments are of people freaking out over it and asking you for instructions; my question is do you even have instructions for this made? If you don't, I can understand why you wouldn't want to make any because you'd have to take the whole thing apart and rebuild it, which could be horribl devastating or just too frustrating, but if you ever actually do manage to make instructions, I would be very greatful if you could send me a pdf file or something of them to antonio_rocks@msn.com. Again, keep up the great work! |

I like the gun, good mechanisim and realism. But you are woefully mis-informed on your history. RIS stands for rail interface system and is used in place of the stock handgaurd on the gun to attach flashlights, fore grips, ect.
What you're talking about is a scope mount. Also, the reason it is not attched directly to the gun has nothing to do with the position of the top portion. The reason it's like that is because there is no way to attach picatinny rails to the gun it self because it wasn't thought of in the design process and the Russian military couldn't re-issue top covers with rails to all of it's vast military spread around the world. |

WOOOOOW! that is such a great mech! please post the mech instructions, please! It must be a perfect novice mech because of its simplicity. please post the instructions!
By the way, I have recently come up with an automatic rubber band mech please take a look when it is posted. I'll inform Micheal Moritbo so check his page.
see if you can make a brick launcher mech that is automatic using the "power functions" set. it should prove interesting... |

It is a grease gun, super nice if you did hvar in a dark room you would think it was genuine. But you could not try making a Dragunov SVD it would so cool goods distribution you have laughed made a rifle and an AK47, and if you beat the two of you together as a Dragunov SVD |
