Borderlands Arena
Note: Contains lego violence. Recently I have been much less concerned with making popular or blogworthy creations and am rediscovering how fun it is to just play. Here is a result of one fun afternoon.
About this creation
From the writings of Jin:

When I journeyed into the Borderlands village there were few people in the streets. I asked a local shop owner why the village was so deserted and he simply told me ďarena day.Ē He directed me to said arena and indeed, nearly the entire village population waited at its gate, people from all reaches of the kingdom: many of them did not look friendly.

I pushed my way closer, anxious to find out what the commotion was all about. I found a fierce man with a spiked helmet was preventing entry. I had earlier seen the man guiding three slaves into the arena. Apparently it was not showtime yet.

Nearby a vendor sold apples, wine, and chicken to arena patrons; he seemed to be doing quite well for himself.

Finally we entered. I noticed quickly that there were no seats. No one seemed to mind and when I asked one gentleman he informed me that shows were not long. The doors were adorned with gilded helmets and spears ran out from the walls. Some of them had human skeletons stuck to them. I then realized where I really was: one of the death rings of ancient times. I thought all had been abolished! I was surrounded by the most barbarous of men.

Four men were forced into the ring with an array of dazzling armor and weaponry. Much of it looked cumbersome to wield but impressive to spectators. I tried to leave but was too engulfed in the mob of screaming spectators to escape.

One was wounded by a huge spear.

One manís head was taken clean off.

Another was hacked to pieces by a hatchet. Somehow I could not tear my eyes away from the gore. When only one man remained, the crowd cheered him ferociously as he left the arena as a champion. However, the crowd quieted quickly. The main event was about to begin.

A huge troll was ushered in by the fierce looking man who guarded the gate. On the other side of the ring cowered the three slaves I had seen earlier; they wielded primitive weaponry compared to the shining gladiators.

Two of the miserable slaves were slain quickly, but in the most brutal of fashion.

I feared for the remaining woman; I could not believe they would even stoop to put women in the bloody pit with that monster.

The trollís master attempted to whip him into a frenzy.

The troll turned on the master and with the swing of his pillar like arms, brought the giant flails down upon the body of the slave master; only a bloody splatter could be seen under the mace-heads. This was the point where I vomited and passed out. When I came to, I was still in the arena and my pockets had been pillaged. ~Jin

So the arena is on horizontal hinges old-school castle style. It can be opened into a facade..

Or enclosed to be an independent building.

Here are the four minifigs that inspired this entire MOC.

You should make more village shots. And the ability to make it a small building is amazing! "Bring on the troll!"

An excellent MoC indeed, I am very much impressed by your attention to detail and synchronisation with the story and images. The arena looks brilliant and deserves to be made MoC Of The Day. I hope to see more tales from you, please do keep up the amazing work!

Epic short story, epic build. The force is strong with you, you are very talented. The arena itself is spectacular and the techniques used to achieve the action effects are mindblowing. Awesome
