this is my newest MOC, movie style Vakama Hordika. I thought it would be fairly simple, because he looks so similar to his set version, but when I got into building him, I realized that he's actually very different from the set; the arms, the way his body is built, the Rhotuka, is all very different, even though he retains clearly Lego parts.
About this creation
Yes, the mouth opens. It wasn't easy but I completed a design for it.
Evil Vakama. Yes, yes, I know it was only his eyes that turned green, not his whole face, but oh well. You can barely see the eyes, and it would break my heart to have Toa Hordika without using those green Vakama masks that came with the Karzahni set.
Here's the Rhotuka launcher. I chose a design for it that works better on his back, instead of flipped up in the shooting position.
The launcher flips up.
The Rhotuka really fires, although I couldn't fit a real Rhotuka launcher.
It's one of those flick-fire missles (when will LEGO learn that they just aren't cool??) I didn't have enough room for a more intricate launcher. :(
As you can see, he really doesn't work well standing up straight and heroic. But that just goes to show how clever the movie desingers were. He doesn't just crouch over for the sake of it--it's the way his body was made.
He works much better crouched down.
I had to elongate the blazer claw and left forearm, so that he could walk on all fours like he does in the movie.
Close up of the blazer claw. It is made entirely out of smaller Lego parts.
A close up of the left forearm. It, too, is purely brick made.
