The Siege of Tarantford
A siege.
About this creation
I've always wanted to build a GOOD siege. After my last siege didn't turn out so well, I decided to make another. This decision was also made because I was going to enter a MOC into a LEGO contest at my local Library.

The City of Tarantford had been founded in the year 806. For years it was the only thing that held back the Troll raids. Now, it appears that this ancient bastion will fall to the Trolls.

The next photo's are just a bunch of angles of the MOC.

The troll siege tower. Credit to the design goes to AlienCat.

The Trolls flooding the wall.

A back view of the action.

Some soldiers desperatley fight Trolls in the town square.

Peasants fleeing. The Great Oak is in flames.

A burning house.

Several soldiers holding back Trolls from a breach in the wall.

Several more pictures of the breach.

A hill. I didn't make this, my mom did while I was at school. :D

The blacksmith's house.

The stairs up to the wall.

The whole back of the wall.

I won first place in my age group, the whole contest and the door prize. The door prize isn't shown here, the main prize is the Torrent LEGO set, and the first place in my age group is the book.

I hope you like it, please rate and comment!

Hey, by the way... I've already read the book. That's why I traded it in and bought Robert Jordan's The Shadow Rising.

Awesome! That hill sounds like something my Dad would do...But while I was BUILDING it. And he would build it all sloppy to... Read that book as soon as you can. It's complete awesomeness.

Very nice job! I don't think my mom could build something half as good as what your mom did =)

Quoting Architect of Vonthako *More detailed review*: Good spacing with the crenelations on the castle wall. The siege tower looks well-proportioned, historically accurate and functional. Good use of contrasting colors and bricks to make the houses look medieval. Excellent use of layering to make that breach in the wall look realistic. The use of fire elements seems balanced. Also, I see that you remembered to include the signs over the doors of the buildings (so many people were illiterate back then). Oh, and good job making the trolls "irregulars" while the human defenders wear matching uniforms - makes it all the more like Lord of the Rings. Honestly, I can't find anything I don't like in this MOC. Keep up the awesome job!
Thanks! I also like the idea of irregular Trolls, more Troll-y.

That is really awesome. Although I liked your last siege, this one is definitely better. Textures are good, the burning buildings are great, the soldiers are awesome, and the breach is amazing. Sweet job on this one.

Quoting Skylar LaBounty Wonder where you got the flaming tree from? Good job.
That tree is THE tree, the one that everyone recycles.

The houses are a bit detailless, the rest great. I like the hole in the wall, the attack-tower and your shaman orcs with the masks.

Woo hoo, first comment! Okay, first off, I love the burning building and the breach. But the castle is pretty awesome, too! Also, I like the effect of the tree with the bench breaking. The siege tower is also awesome (now I see why you wanted some siege tower designs :)). Good job over all, and keep up the great work!
