Leader of the dinobots from Transformers cartoon series. He is now leads the autobots (for a while), and given a jet mode too!
About this creation
As I pass by the toy shop about a month or two ago, I saw Takara's
Masterpiece Grimlock. He was simply a beautiful piece of toy. As the usual cash-strapped
me, I can't afford him. What's the next best course of action for a LEGO
freak like me? Build him of course!
During the course of building him, I found out he has a pretty
plain-looking domed head which will be made even more boring with LEGO
bricks. Again, what is my next course of action? Elevate his status of
course! Finally, King Grimlock is born, with a crown on his head. Yep in
the Transformers cartoon series waaaaaaay back in the 80's , he reigned for a
while and lead the Autobots before he got dumbed down to his original
self. And he is not WHAT the matrix intended as a leader, hence there's
not matrix (or a matrix hatch) on his chest in this creation of
mine (read: I can't implement it engineering-wise).
There are a few aesthetics that I wanted to put on him, for example
the 3 different coloured square on his legs (very apparent in his G1 cartoon
self). I wanted some semi-transparent part on his neck too (like his G1
toy incarnation), which I have use a small windshield to emulate it. At
this point, since there's a "windshield", why not bestow him with a new
mode to complement his dino mode? And this idea yet again, added 2 more
weeks to my project. He was always shown to be grounded and a cumbersome
animal and only able to
get a few bites off the Seekers if they ever fly down close enough to
him. Now with his new jet mode, this will surely put a shocker to those
aerial based Decepticons that tried to taunt him.
No more chomp chomp for
Grimlock. Grimlock now have wings (transforming sound here).
'Nuff said. :)

I think perhaps a tank altmode would have worked better. Still awesome. |

I think this Lego transformer has the most technical transformation out all the ones ive seen and is simply an engineering marvel. Great work and happy thanksgiving. |
