Dragon
SHIP designed LEGO Space craft for carrying mecha wherever they may go.
About this creation
Dragon is designed in mind with mecha based special forces units. This ship is a smallish (roughly Yacht sized) and equiped to penetrate defenses unseen and punch a hole to escape if seen. Dragon has a sizable cargo hold with a secondary fighter drone bay. Crewing is minimal (6) with the bulk of passengers being the special forces unit and their support. The bay is awfly dark in the aft portion so I added what LEGO based lighting I had. (two single lights and one double light) The battery box/switch is accessable through a removable panel directly aft the dorsal turret. Enjoy the MOC.

Those are hallfire droid wheels sandwiched between NBA inverted 1/4 domes. I envision it as a shield generator/cloaking device. Others think it's a loading system for the gun. Whatever tickles ya. :) The big panel that says "03," That's a door.

Overall shot, Dragon is aprox 170 studs long, fairly tall and yay wide and very heavy.

Weapons? Yes. Let's see two capital class autocannon, two capital class projection cannons, 3x12 shot reloadable anti-cap ship missle bays, 2xMladen-esque missle racks, two dual anit anytihng side guns, 6x point defense pulse lasers, etc...

Auto guns. Rotate AND elevate. Great for a) discouraging pursuers, b) providing artillery for field actions and c) starting the occasional bbq.

   see, it does rotate.

The bay for the figheter drones is...

here. Cleverly placed between two of the point defenses.

Dragon has a compliment of three fighter drones. Good for space, good for field support.

   Nose shot

   some greebles

   and more greebles

   and more greebles

   side dual guns (and greebles)

side of the nose. Lower missle rack traverses and elevates.

Some of the limited interior I did for Dragon, the bridge and standby room.

Pilot, copilot/gunner, weapons control, tactical station. See a theme here?

Stand by room. It's a room where the figs can talk, eat, strategize, or simply sit. It's a room.

   greebles

This drove me crazy. Angle the brick like this. So, if you have technic brick, and the vertical section is 10 bricks high and you want a nice sloped portion attaching to those technic bricks, how many bricks/plates should the sloped portion be seperated by? I won't tell. Figure it out. ;)

   greebles, GNDN

Mladen-esque missles. Been sitting on my bench for...oh a while. nice to finially use em. They are about seven deep on either side. If you look down you can count them.

   Another shot like the first...

Can you guess what the gree part is. I'll give you a clue, it is LEGO and it's two parts. Answer two pictures down.

Minifig chairs make the venting. LOTS of minifig chairs. Hooray PAB.

Duplo train track. Trans Green Duplo train track. LOVE the stuff.

Rear hatch to the main cargo bay open. Flanked by two point defense guns.

Dragon's crew and compliment. That's a crew of 6, four engineers, four mechs, four mechwarriors, three fighter drones, two support drones, six man tactical squad, one heavy support tank and a mascot. (not pictured, sniffing camera)

Bay doors open. I can't remember how big they are, something like 27 bricks tall, and 32 studs wide. Big.

used basketball hoops for a ladder safety cage. Work areas for figs to work on equipment prepare a nice sandwich.

   mmmmm, sandwich.

Look at the blue tile. Shiny blue tile, about 500 of em. Thanks again Bellevue PAB.

There's that snazzy lighing in action. Not really noticable but does really help.

Greebles above rear hatch. Don't let my attention to detail fool you, they're shameless plugs for holes in the structure.

It's a bay right, better put stuff in it.

you can see the lighing in action here, as in you can see what's inside. the mech's shoulder (background) is almos directly under a light.

I like this shot, I think because you can see the mechwarrior saying, lemme at it, the Krispy Creme is HOT.

ever busy in the bay. Oh yeah, there's a crane in the bay also, it's got full mobility of the bay.

   Low nose shot

showing how the lower turret can rotate.

Front shots are cool on this beast but hard to get.

   not too bad

   lil better. Thanks for looking!

I actually hadn't planned on it. I may still update this however. I continue to get comments from MOCpages, and that tugs at me. My brickshelf gallery is sort of an archive at this point, I have not updated that either. I've moved on to flickr for most of my MOC display needs: http://www.flickr.com/photos/snowleopard/

Absolutely incredible!!! YOur attention to detail and lighting use adds a level of Awesome that lego creations are seldom capable of reaching in my book. I love ships and frigates. If I had as many pieces as you do, My perfectionist mind would have a joygasm.

Nice use of the old sets. That is one very impressive crusier.Snaps for you!Youve inspired me greatly and I want to build a thing from an old animie tv show called(ZOIDS) that was broadcasted by toonamie on cartoon network years ago. Its called a (WAR SHARK). That thing is huge and has not many hard to create details. Easy for me to creat. OH AND CHECK OUT LEGO ZERO'S SITE.

just wondering... how many bricks do people like you have??? and do you get outdoors too? anyway: superb creation. the colors are indeed kind of a silly combination. oh well, with mechs anything is possible. I think I will have a go on a (small) giant spaceship myself... this is a nice inspiration.

Dearest Mark, please, please send me instructions for this beast. I am currently looking at the pictures and taking detailed notes of all the parts used. I think I have some of the Bionicle pieces you used but I need to get some of those basketball hoops and trans green Duplo train tracks to finish out my parts list. And a note to Mr. Goldman...watch your back! Yeah, I think you can take Goldie right Mark? He's a punk anyway. Yeah. yeah.

Wow. Utterly wow. The dtails, the construction, the sheer size. The mech bay is my favorite part. It works well with the rest of the ship and is very functional. Unlike other ships this big though, you managed to pull it all together without making it boxy. I think you're also the only other person besides myself that integrated droid wheels into a large ship. Well done! 50/5 stars!
