Chinese pirate junk: "Hóng Long" The Red Dragon
Ok this is the ship i built to attack my voc- Rotterdam- so i didn't take it apart (it would be sad when i have to...) I will post later the battle between these two big ships- i hadn't goodlooking hulls anymore so i built one out of bricks- fortunately i had some curvy parts for the hull... I named it to be The Red Dragon (Hóng Long or something like that in chinese sorry my chinese is bit bad) Not very creative and stereotypic maybe -also the ship is more black than red- anyway here is The Red Dragon:
About this creation

Junk is armed with only two big guns but also a swivelgun and crossbows plus many bloodthirsty pirates...

Bow have an anchor (ok too western styled maybe...) and traditional eyepattern that helps ship itself to "see" dangers at sea

Captain overlooking the battle- he is the one with shiny hat and red silk cloack

Instead of bell i made more chinese looking Gong- and it's player...
Helmsman- again i made working rudder- and rudder actually is chinese innovation ...

Side opens up and reveals the captain's great (?) cabin and his wife, she is actually one of the many wives of this captain but only one he keeps with him- chinese sailors don't afraid to took woman aboard...
other view of the cabin- needless to say it was hard to picture....

Mast and captain's wife removed we can see the captains bed- that text in the red bricks- i dunno what it say- probably nothing that makes sense XD -it is sticker from the one exo-force set- if someone now what it say please tell...
Own altar for the Sea goddess Mazu with "jade statue" representing her...
Bats are statues too -bat is fortunate animal in chinese mythology....

These plants are some goodsmelling herbs....

Archers- pirates have some fireweapons but they use lots of traditional arrows...

Swordsmen with daos and katanas- stolen from the japanese maybe... or maybe some of them are from japan i dunno...and no i don't use brickarms stuff so big lego swords will do...

Spearmen armed with spears spikes and long poled axes...

Old man, gong player and gunner

Dragonflag i made
stairs to the deck...

This ship may not be as realistic as VOC Rotterdam but not much is known about 17th century chinese pirates so i hope you won't be too critic- i mostly based this junk on the "Empress" Sao Feng's ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Very cool. It reminds me a lot of the junk we have here in the Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong. I think it costs 180HKD per person for a 45 minute ride in it, so I haven't done it yet. It would be nice to be in it at 8pm when HK does the laser light show. All in all, an excellent MOC, and the sails you made are SUPERB.

Quoting Moodswim . Chinese "pirate junk"? Hong LONG? The "red dragon"? Dude, did you mean to put all these sexual inuendos in the title alone? Very funny if you did. Oh, yeah, and very nice build:)
LOL actually that is completely accident- LONG really is dragon in chinese and chinese ship is called "junk" (dzong would be better i think) - red is color i used because it is cool and chinese like- and it is not my fault you have so dirty imagination XD- also my undertstanding of english slang is pretty limited so i'm really sorry if these names hurt someone...

Quoting Cole Fynn Awesome ! I love the colour scheme ! Do you have any blue coats ?
Thanks- ummm... what you mean by "blue coats"? If you mean the old lego imperial soldiers (very old) Then no unfortunately i don't have them if you mean just blue torsos i have some and they are easy to customize with decals....

Still you gave only three- huh you are critic- nothing bad with that though -but i usually give four to all those i really like and three to those that are ok but not very amazing- 5 only for the best and i almost never give 1 or 2....

Quoting Juan Carranza Hey, Swash, is "Junk" the historic name for this kind of ship?
Unfortunately english term is so ironic- "djong" would be better but grammatically it has became to be "junk" in english- finnish term "Dzonkki" is actually closer to it's original eastern name but english is funnily "junk"

Quoting oucho t cactus when i first saw it i instantly thought of the emperess from POTC3, i love the asian cultures building styles especially the buildings and ship
Yeah they all got their own style, arabs chinese, japanese etc. Junk sails for example look cool- like dragon's wings a bit and they also are capable of sailing into wind unlike westernstyles squarerigged ships...

Quoting Ben The Lego Builder. Very cool MOC! I love the eyes at the front of the ship.
They are stickers- all old ships greek, roman , phoenician ships did have eyes too as well as these junks- funny superstitions they really thought that ship is blind without them and they feared shipwrecks....

Quoting Architect of Vonthako This looks awesome! I love the detail and the descriptions. You seem to have put a lot of thought and effort into this. Is that one of the (unfortunately) discontinued LEGO cannons that actually fired? And yes, I know “junk” is the historical name for that type of ship, but still – so much opportunity for euphemism.
Those are the new cannons that fire but i have older ones from the 1990s they actually fired pretty powerfully new are much worse- but probably because they don't want kids to hurt each others when playing...

Quoting Sebeus I Nicely done, I really like ithe interior and combinations of bricks, nice sails, I must say I think these kind of ships are long, pointy but I'm not sure, it's a nice ship and that's what counts, great job
Junks are very different to each other- there is some long pointy ones and some almost "floating castles" -chinese were masters in shipbuilding...
