# MOColympics Round 5 - Crimso Giger vs Chas Irish
MOColympics - Round 5 - Crimso Giger vs Chas Irish - Category : Play It Again Sam - Song I've choosed : "Space Oddity", by David Bowie. Kind of tribute to Apollo 11 (1969) and the launch of the Classic Space range (1979).
About this creation

Ground control to Major Tom

Ground control to Major Tom

Take Your Protein Pills

And put your helmet on

Ground Control to Major Tom - Commencing countdown, engines on

Check ignition and may God's love with you

Ten, nine, eight seven, six, five

Four, three, two, one - Liftoff

This is Ground Control to Major Tom

You've really made the grade

And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear

Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

This is Major Tom to ground control

I'm stepping trough the door

And i'm floating in a most peculiar way

And the stars looks very different today

For here am I sitting in a tin can

Far above the world

Planet earth is blue - And there's nothing I can do

Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles - I'm feeling very still

And I think my spaceship knows which way to go

Tell my wife I love her very much she knows

Ground control to Major Tom - Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong

Can you hear me Major Tom ? Can you hear me Major Tom ? Can you hear me Major Tom ? Can you ...

Here am I floating around my tin can

Far above the moon

Planet earth is blue - And there's nothing I can do

I've spend quite some time on this entry, because the category was very interesting and I love the song I've choosed. But, after a whole day of work just to take the pics, I'm very tired so I won't write a long commentary on my entry lol

If you don't know the song, you could, and should ;-) , watch it on Youtube :

Version 1969
Version 1972
On the TV, 1970
Live, Marquee Club, 1973

Just one last word : Hope you'll like it, and thanks for viewing ;-)

Maybe it was just a coincidence that Space Oddity began playing on my Jango station just as I opened up this Moc? Or - maybe not. Talk about setting the mood! I really like this Moc!

Quoting Giovanni Seynhaeve Did anybody notice? A classic song needs a classic astronaut! Your feel for detail really did it for me; you have my vote! PS: What? No King Crimson? That kinda surprised me!
Thanks Gio ! Maybe next time for King Crimson (even if it's more often instrumental, but some songs like Starless would be great to do)

Well, Crimso...after seeing Irish's MOC entry I would've had a hard time believing another build could top it, but I have to say I'm with Chris on this one, too (he and I have agreed too much lately for my comfort!). Great work, and congrats...you've got my vote!

Mate this is art. You can just see the work and love that has gone into this presentation. So many wonderful MOCs all tied together into a mini story, and done so well. The trouble you have gone to to get the lighting right on some of the photo's is truly special. You almost get the sense of being the mini-fig yourself. This is my favoite post of yours yet. It has everything in it, reminds m of an old catalogue/ideas book, Legoland space, that moonscape, a mini-scale town... Blown away dude...

I can't believe how much work went into this MOC Crimso! From start to finish, this is one of your best creations. Major Tom is one of my favorite songs from my childhood. Brings back good memories of the heyday of NASA and the can-do spirit of the moon missions. Thanks and regards, Eric.

Awesome build Crimso! There's just so much detail here and I really get the Classic Space vibe. I don't know the song, but the build is stellar. I'll have to do a search and see if I can YouTube the song or something.

Phenomenal work Crimso...just phenomenally awesome. I love the classic design of the various MOC's you did and the way you made the pictures have that 70's look to them just brought a flood of childhood LEGO memories back. Thank you for building something so amazing. It really was a complete joy to look at. I love the spaceship...it oozes 'Classic Space'. Love it!

That was one of my fav Bowie songs. Played it a lot in the 70's. Haven't had a recording of it for while but I still hear it on a regular basis. I don't know how that happens. Great version of the song. Both you guys are ripping it up and have excellent moc control. I'm rooting for both of you and don't envy the judges here one bit. GL! see ya. garth

Crimso... *picks jaw up off floor* AWESOME! Both you and Chas had amazing entries this round and it was SO hard for me to pick a favorite. Both of your depictions matched your songs so well that I had to base my decision only on the build. And in that respect, you got my vote! Some of the little details that really stood out to me were the simple ones like the ignited engine of the ship lifting off and the first starfield pic. Just amazing over all. Good luck with the other judges! ~ Chris.

Quoting Hans Dendauw I love how your pics have the classic Lego catalog look, intentional or not. Everything about this, the song, the build, the pics, all scream 70's.
It's totally intentional, the idea book of 1980 (set 6000) is like a Bible for me :-)
