City, Areetsa vs. JIB FLUFF'S NEANUT PUTTER. The full title wouldn't fit, sorry.
About this creation
First, let me get this out of the way: the photos did not come out as intended.
I wanted 'normally' lit photos with the occasional superbright patch, but I ended up with dark photos with the occasional normal patch. I'm no Alex Eylar, that's for sure.
Now, the esteemed enemy: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/161048
Also, re: the title picture, my original overview was far superior but ended up being blurred; I forgot to tighten the camera mount.
First: space port.
The top building is the control centre, the left is the entrance to the city below.
Old Ironside's college and penitentary, no comforts here.
The founder of this esteemed institution realized that the difference between students and prisoners was minimal, and decided to mix the two.
It worked, very well.
So far, no escapes. Having nowhere to escape to does help.
City power plant waste gas vent; the heat is used to warm the underground city. Any excess is used to melt snow into water.
Rubbish dump: clockwise from 12': waste dumping ramp, bright yellow so the truck drivers can see it in blizzards. Crane: occasionally a truck falls in. They ain't cheap. Control centre: if no-one was watching them, they'd never get anything done.
This is how I wanted all the pics.
That's the tunnel entrance and the dumping track.
I like this building. It's the city comms laser, and I think the design is very clever.
On the right is a shuttle on the runway, we'll get to that later.
Shuttle. Runway. Comm station wall.
You have to keep the hoons out somehow, otherwise they'll photocopy their posteriors and post the pics all over the galactic intertubes.
You can see three buildings here: the best observation point in the city, the only hotel with windows that don't open out on an underground plaza and the cablecar tracks.
Guess which is which.
This pic came out horrible. Well, there's the hotel, there's the prison-college and there's the city chemical plant, above ground so they don't poison the whole city in an accident.
I have no intention of attempting to wrest the microcity crown away from 'Other Shannon', as you can tell by the lack of quality in this.
You want the truth? I don't like cities. They're fine to visit, but I'd hate to live in one.

pretty good but you obviously don't get what 'city' is. haven't you ever seen the 'city' theme on lego.com or anywhere?
The theme said 'city'. I made a city. I don't like imitating sets. Now, the fact it's an underground future city doesn't change the fact that it's technically a city. If you don't like that, you have to be more specific with your category names.

Yeh, War of the universe and Europa are some of my favorites, so yes, we do. :D
I prefer Preliator and Diem Ex Dei myself, but they're all awesome. One thing's for sure, whatever Immediate Music AKA 'Globus' do, they're very very good at it. You might want to look up 'Heaven Help Us'; it's the 'instrumental' version of Europa, just the choir in the background and the music. It's worth a listen, anyway.

The first pic... what's that green thing?
Hm? Oh, well, that, that'll take a little explaining. Now, the 'shelf' I use for taking lego pictures, is actually attatched via hinges to the bookshelf next to my bed. Now, orginally me father decided to have two attaching points of baling twine to hold it up, but after it got in the way enough (you can see it in some of my older mocs getting in the way of the camera) I checked with him if two were truly neccessary; turned out, it could live with just one. So, a few moments with a sharp knife later, it's a lot more compact. I just couldn't be bothered to get rid of the screw that held it in. It looks like more of a blue colour to me, though.
