About this creation
Blast walked back down the boarding ramp and stood at the bottom looking at all of his troop’s tents. It was now midday and the sun on Christophsis was one of the brightest in the galaxy, so its rays were beating down and reflecting off the crystals.
He started walking through the tents just as a huge shadow appeared above them all, blocking out most of the sun.
Suddenly a huge scatter-beam crashed into the ground, exploding and wiping out a quarter of a dozen tents in a ten-meter high fireball. Blast dropped to the ground and covered his head with his hands. As soon as the debris had finished flying, he rammed on his helmet and stood up. Everywhere people were running about shouting in mayhem, then a series of smaller particle-beams exploded into the tents from above. R.K. looked up.
There, only a thousand or so meters above them was The Desolation.
Suddenly Falcon appeared next to him. “Where he hell did that come from?!”
“No idea.” replied Blast plainly, pulling out his pistols.
“Send down the fighters!” shouted Iadsgb on the bridge of the attacking ship. The hanger doors opened and fifty-odd fighters flew out like an angry swarm of zelthas, then got into formation and flew down towards the planet.
“Falcon! Go gather the other leaders!” Blast shouted to his comrade who nodded and ran off. “Jelli! Come here!” Elite Captain Jelli had been running past. “Go and tell Fixer and Vasilious that we’re under attack! Ask how long they’re going to be!”
“Yes sir!” Jelli ran off on her mission
“Hey Captain! I thought you said we had six hours?!” Blast yelled at The Manipulator’s main Captain, who just shrugged and started to continue on his way. Blast growled, ran up to him, grabbed his arm and spun him to face him.
“IF I ASK YOU SOMETHING; YOU GIVE THE RIGHT, BLOODY ANSWER! UNDERSTAND?!!” he yelled in the Captains face, who leant back slightly with and uncaring look on his face.
“AARGH!” Blast yelled, raised his pistol and slammed it into the captain’s head, killing him.
“Imbecile.” Blast muttered, still seething and ran off back to The Manipulator.
“YES put that there!” Fixer said to Vasilious as they were hanging half inside the engine service hatch together, trying to fix the problem. Blast came in and found Jelli already there.
“Look how long will you be?” she asked.
“Um... I dunno.” Fixer was clearly frustrated.
“Have you found out what’s wrong yet?” Blast asked making everyone jump.
“Yes; that I can tell you. It’s the devarian crystal. It’s shattered; we’re gonna need a new one.” Fixer pulled himself out of the hatch to look at them.
“Well have you got a spare?” R.K. asked.
“No and that’s the problem.” Vasilious replied. “And they can only be found on Dantooine.”
“Dantooine!” Blast said dismayed. “We can’t go all the way to Dantooine just for a crystal!”
“Then we ain’t goin’ nowhere.” Fixer brushed some dirt from his gloves. R.K. thought; then it struck him.
“Is it possible to remove the crystal holders entirely?” he asked hopeful.
“Probably; why?” Fixer responded.
“Then do it now. Take that out, re-attach the wires directly to the engine mainframe and put the remaining crystals into the sockets. We’re going to convert it to run on crystal power!” Blast beamed broadly under his helmet and even though the others couldn’t see it they could tell that he was. Then Fixer grinned as he realized what the leader was planning to do. He bent over again and re-started work.
“Jelli; go to the mining department. Get all of the miners to go out onto the plain and start digging up those crystals!” R.K. turned and jogged out followed by the Elite Captain.
Blast left Jelli to go and find the miners and went outside, back into the chaos.
The other URS leaders were waiting for him at the bottom of the boarding ramp.
“Sir; what’s going on?” asked Nightblaze.
“Well as you can see; we are under attack.” R.K. indicated to The Desolation and suddenly realized with horror that it was coming in to land.
“We need to rally the troops and get them ready for battle.”
“What about our fleet? Surely it will be in danger?” Electrock asked, looking down at everyone.
“Yes it will but unfortunately we cannot move it. Reasons being; 1, the engines are broken. 2, we wouldn’t be able to move it before the FIS troops got to it anyway. So there’s not much point in trying. O.K. any questions?” R.K. looked around his silent comrades faces, then flinched as another scatter-beam blew up a couple of URS fighters.
“Very well. Move out!” Blast and the leaders all ran off to round up the panicking troops.
