DSSD-17 MAOX Shield Satellite
My entry for the Over 100 category in The Spinning Top Contest.
About this creation
The DSSD-17 (Defensive Shield Satellite Drone. Military imagination at work here...) is a small satellite designed for infantry support.

Its primary function is to pinpoint assigned targets and to envelop them with an additional shield, greatly boosting their defenses.

They are deployed in discreet amount in lower orbit and can provide defense where requested to mechs, tanks, hovers and small infantry formations.

It can also be used to trap an enemy vehicle inside a force field, for a short amount of time, depending on the target's power. Several of these can also surround a spacecraft to instantly recharge its shield emitters.

That's it. It's about 120 pieces. I hoped it would spin longer, but at least it never falls :)

If you didn't already, check out the Evinrude, an amazing VTOL balancing on the same kind of perch as this thing.

Comments are welcome.

Nice work! I like the concept, and the color scheme as well. The black really makes the trans neon green stand out.

Great job here, I really like the use of trans-green and the "wings" are a great addition. The perch is interesting and the backstory is neat. Also, I was wondering if you could check this out: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/161881

Quoting Chris Phipson I agree with Cody... we're toast. You'd TOTALLY have my vote if I were one of the judges! ~ Chris.
Quoting Dave Kaleta Ouch, way to stomp the competition. Nice work.
Everybody keeps saying this... I must say that I like both other entries more than mine. We'll just see what the judges have to say.

Nice, Very Nice Mr. Fassio. Although, I am quite perplexed by the whole concept of equal balance(like the evinrude), But I might give her a try.Anyways, a very nice Build, that reminds me of the Hammer of Dawn sattelites, but very smooth build. 95/100. BTW have you ever tried stop-motion?
