This fighter was pretty much built around the sliding canopy. I really wanted to make one and needed to have something to go along with it. Its Mk.3 since number one had a more cumbersome sliding mechanism and didn't have enough to it. Mk.2 refined the look of the ship to a point that I was happy with. And Mk.3 has added a much simpler sliding mechanism and modified the look to fit the new slider.
About this creation
The Nuclear Powered Interceptor Starfighter is armed only with two small pulse cannons. Each cannon is supplied ammunition from a plasma converter connected to the reactor. The reactor also powers the twin engines at the rear of the craft.
"Look ma, no hinges!"
The underbelly of the fighter adds a stark contrast to rest of the ship. Most of the ship is built sleek and has a refined feel, whereas the underbelly has a chunkier exposed vibe. Mechanics who work on the NPIS-3 dread emergency landings. You can probably tells why.
The powerful nuclear fueled engines give this fighter its role as interceptor. Although it isn't powerfully armed, it is incredibly fast and easily out maneuvers other fighters and interceptors. Its speed and maneuverability allow it to strike its foes multiple times, from a variety of angles. Oother advantages of its speed, are: it can readily be moved between the planets, orbital docking stations, and capital ships, as well as make interplanetary flights, handles atmosphere nearly as well as space, and is hard to score a hit on.
Now this is my kind if figher, nice to see someone else thinking the same way I do when it comes to beasty longnose rocket fighters. This is real beast!
