This is my entry for Round 1 of the SW MOC-off Tournament.
About this creation
The category I got was Planet Dio. Apparently, someone's keeping me away from the walkers. I'll bet it's Brady G. He's sick of my AT-RT's. (not really, Brady's not even part of the group.)
My opponent is Commando Hawk, but since no one can confirm which commando is really my opponent, there's no link up there ^ . This is a diorama of a military cloning complex on Kamino. It is big enough to be a dio, it measures 48x32, so it is larger than a bignette. I chose to do Kamino because (1) it is rare to see a good exterior MOC of Kamino (2) no one ever does micro-scale battles on Kamino, and (3) I had a lot of light bley. If you see some thing that you think aren't accurate, you can go look in the Star Wars Locations book, published by DK. This is not meant to be Tipoca City, but it has the same major features. (after all, Tipoca is the only city with enough source material to actually make an MOC) The Venator is , I guess you could say, version 2.5. I'll post Version 3 soon, as well as the C-9979... That being said, the whole model is at 1:74 of minifig-scale.
I'd like to thank Commander Jet for organizing the whole tournament, and good luck to my opponent.
The City:
^Left to right, top to bottom:
Overall shot; sensor antennae; defense turbolaser battery; Kamino Space Control Tower; water distillery; outdoor parade grounds; sensor nodes
Platforms:
^ Left to right, top to bottom:
Industrial landing platform, used with military transports to shuttle troops into Acclamator-class warships; VIP platform, the platform's center retracts into the bottom of the platform for maintenance, if this were Tipoca City, Slave-1 would occupy this platform; random platform, equipped with a static discharge pole; visitor's platform, located near Kamino Space Control, if this were Tipoca City, Obi-Wan would land here; executive platform, equipped with a shield generator and secondary platform for aides, if this were Tipoca City, Prime Minister Lama Su would use this platform.
Combatants:
^ Left to right, top to bottom:
Counselor-class cruiser delivering Jedi to defend the facility; Venator-class Star Destroyer placed in low atmosphere to defend against CIS landing craft; C-9979 landing craft attempts to sneak past the Republic blockade and land on the industrial platform.
Here's one last shot: you can see all the poles and pillars holding this thing off the sea floor.

Excellent job Doctor! Great use of a rare baseplate, the mini's look great and very to scale. Keep up the good work!
If you wouldn'd mind, can you check out my newest moc? I'd appreciate some constructive criticism, and I know you aren't afraid to speak your mind.
Happy New Year! |

To the guy below me, there were two invasions of Kamino. One like right after the battle of Geonosis and one later on in the Clone Wars. Anyways Brickdoctor you have really inspired me to make something like this excellent creation, right here. So I took a look at some of your minis and I was wondering if I had permission to use some of your designs. I will give you full credit. Please let me know as soon as you can, thanks. |

Quoting buzz droid
This is a really cool creation. I have been a fan of all your MOCs. I whish I could build stuff like you do but I don't have the smaller parts needed to do microscale. I usually stick to vignettes and small vehicles because I don't have a tremendous amount of peices. I noticed you had several vehicles too and I have really been impressed with what you have done. Don't make to many AT-RTs though ;)Also is it true that you started the CFOL? If so then why did you leave? I am a Christain too but I am not really sure if i want to join the CFOL
Well, for pieces, Christmas is just around the corner! Try to get a few clone battlepacks, the light bley cheese and black hands will serve you well. An assassin battlepack will provide droid arms, about the only thing it's good for. The Echo Base set, Corporate Alliance tank droid, and Ahsoka's Starfighter all have good greebly pieces. Of course, if you have a large amount of money, the UCS Falcon will provide all the light bley you'll need for a looooong time. |

Okay, let me clear something up: people appear to think that I customized the baseplate. I didn't. It's official. It's from the Aquazone theme, and came with the shark sub. For those of you who are kind of young, Aquazone is a much cooler theme than Agents. It is better than that Ogel theme whose name I just blanked out on. And it is by far better than the Atlantis theme coming out in 2010. If you go to Legoland California, they have an Aquazone ride there: Wave Racers. |

Now these are the sort of Star Wars creation that I try to find everyday! This make me proud to have you as a Favorite builder, you never seem to disappoint! That, combined with the fact that you are an AFOL who just wrote a tutorial on a proper MOC, makes me a very happy man. :) |
