volkswagen beetle - Volksrod - progress
i liked Firas' Volksrod so much i am making a smaller version of his model :-)
About this creation
and here it is! this is the first time i am actually uploading picture of unfinished model. you see i wanted to make it in minifig scale, but i had problems with the nose, it was nce, but without headlights, or odd with headlights, i was fighting with it for an hour or two, so i decided to make slightly larger model. but i think it worthed it. (the wrongly colored bricks will be replaced with correct ones, this was made only to work on the shape.) i usually work on the shape at first because i grab the first brick of the type if i can't find the correct one :-D

the main problem of the beetle is that it has so many curves. happily the rod version has no fenders :-) but still the nose has... kind of... curves in two directions. you see its nose is parabolic and also curved downwards. i am quite satisfied with the temporary result :-)

because i want to get the detail of Firas' one have already solved the identification mark - i used a robo hand to hang it on the headlight and atteeached it to it (1x1 clip brick and 1x2 halfstud offset plate :-)

you see the headlight is on the "correct" side for a reason xD

comment if you want. i would like to know what do you think about it :-)

i still have a feeling the hood looks still too narrow on the rear end. i think the cabine should be 6-wide :-)

more progress and photos:

don't you think it looks better in one color? :-)

and another stage complete! cab (more or less) finished!

the paintjob is only to make it somehow, i will maybe make the door a stud shotrer, these look too big and i will also add a curve to the flames ;-)

sunroof! :-)

i am still not completely sold on the interior myself, but it happened this way :-D

how the nose is done - i am so grateful i have plenty of these hinges :-)

and further changes! insane engine, new paintjob and studless roof! enjoy! (still with the old doors, because the smaller ones looked awfully :-D)

anyway, enjoy!

i have a feeling there is no need to continue building because i love the exposed engine, but once i am making it to be a model of the original, i will finish the rear soon

isn't it beautiful studless?

check this out! this is the first tim i have ever disassembled the classic steering wheel on 2x1 plate base. luckily i didn't break it so i can fix it up again ;-) but i simply had to do it because i needed it for the egine xxD i think it works together with the technic rubber band :o)

and finally a beta version of the model! i had to rebuild the engine a bit. the rear was tough because i even didn't have an idea how to make it or how it should look, which made it from this point of view much harder than the front :-)

i have to mention the new rod-worthy wheels and that the rims nicely resemble these on the original :-)

i will maybe work on the engine later but i think the actual one has the essence of the original one as well ;-)

enjoy!

Wow! looks very cool my friend! Great to see a small version of my Volksrod :) you did a great job and I think that the hood is ok for the scale, I recommend to post a new page of the final project so more people could see it, great work again pal, keep on the great work >>> peace.. Firas
