My precious one: I saved that gum that you threw in the garbage.
About this creation
It's been way, way too long since I've dived into Weird Al's demented mind. But here I go again. EDIT This was the winning entry for Shannon "Shannon Rocks" Young's Vig/orama contest. Yay for me!
My 8x8 vignette is a scene taken from Weird Al's "Do I Creep You Out?", a parody of American Idol star Taylor Hick's "Do I Make You Proud?" Here are three similar views of the scene with selected lyrics:
I like to feel
The warm spot on your chair.
Sometimes I drool,
And usually I stare.
My precious one- I saved that gum
That you threw in the garbage.
You're the one I dream about;
But the only question with me now
Is "Do I creep you out?"
Everytime I shake your hand now
Wanna stick your fingers in my mouth
Do I creep you out?
Somethin' I should ask about:
Can I sniff the pit-stains on your blouse?
Know exactly where you live now,
Follow you from work right to your house.
Well, do I creep you out?
Here's the office scene sans minifigs. I was going for the busy look here, trying to fill up all the space. Note the yellow stickie pads, the pens, the crooked binder. Busy.
All the electronics were wired, from the digital clock to the keyboard and mouse. The CPU, monitor, and clock were all hooked into the hidden power strip.
Here's a last look at the pretty floor pattern and the office chair. Creepy cubicle neighbor-guy does really have legs and two arms. Hey! Stop staring! Wipe that drool off your face! Creepy cubicle neighbor-guy really has no shame.
EDIT: I want to give a shout-out to Chas Irish. His Round V MocOlympics entry gave me a much-needed push. Chas did a great job with "White and Nerdy," and ever since seeing it I've got a real bee in my bonnet about making a Weird Al Moc. I have two songs in mind for full-blown Mocs, if I can ever get a crown or a Viking helmet on my budget. Sounds easy, but it's not.
I also need to thank my loving and patient wife for taking the pictures. Honey, I'm sorry I've been so crabby lately. Now that I've got this out of my system, I should be doing much better. Kind of like that beef stroganof last week. I love you so much!
Well, I despise reality shows so the original song is lost on me, and Weird Al hasn't been heard of in the UK since he did 'eat it' (Although I have heard 'Amish Paradise'!) but i viewed this for the build and the scary subject matter and for both it's great. The cubicle is claustrophobic and packed full of details (love the wired up electrics, such a cool touch)and the chair and floor are also top notch. Well done.
Yes, you do, Wes. Very much. ;D I see someone already used that joke so I'm editing this comment... Anyway, lovin' the vig. The music video is just ... creeeeepy! You replicated it well. I don't think this is one of the scenes, but you captured the song/singer's creeeeppy-ness. ;)
*raises hand* Unfortunately yes... I know who you're talking about... can't believe my wife makes me watch that show. It's never been the same since Heath Flor... I mean Chris Daughtry got kicked off (For an explaination of that joke, visit Heath's page... DEAD RINGER). ~ Chris.
27 comments and Lee is the first one to bring up my name... I must be losing my touch. Great vig here Wes. It really captures the true feel of that creepy stalker that's hiding in each of us. What? No one else? Really?... fine, I'll just be in the corner with Lee's pre-chewed gum and laundry Hamper. Oh, and I can't let this joke go... "beef stroganof"... isn't that what you call a bunch of cows in a field materba... never mind. ~ Chris.
I like it

Wes, you can't go wrong with Weird Al and here you've gone all kinds of right. I love the curve and color of the desk and the "clutter" just brings this to life. Sweet.
