Star Trek Mark VII (?) Tricorder from TNG.
About this creation
This was quite a fun project for me. Like the
Classic Trek Type II Phaser
I made the tricorder many years ago (1990?; I know it was before DS9 aired).

If you'll look at the blue pieces in the bottom half you may wonder what
they are. They're the Tyco double-sided connectors. They made both a
studded and a socket connector (male/female). These are invaluable.
Unfortunately I only have a few (3-5?) of the dbl-male, and 1 of the
dbl-female pieces left.

Side-view.

You'll notice a different connector is used on the bottom half of this
one. I used the Mega-Bloks version of the double-sided male connector.
This allowed for more accurate spacing when closed. I really wish LEGO®
would make they're own versions of these invaluable 'adapters'.
