World Trade Center
This is a model of the (now destroyed) World Trade Center that once stood in Lower Manhattan. First off let me say this is not my design. The original designer was Spencer Rezkalla, and I enjoyed his design so much I wanted one for my own. By studying Spencer's instructions on Brickshelf and pictures as well as Joe Beresford's pictures I was able to replicate the model pretty accurately.
About this creation

Building the towers was the easiest since the instructions existed for those. Everything else I had to guess on and try to build it as close as possible to the pictures online. I also added a few of my own parts in certain areas while trying to keep the overall design accurate to the actual buildings.

WTC 7 was certainly a challenge since pictures only existed on Spencer's model and not Joe's. However I used a lot of online photographs to try and fill in the parts I did not know.

The hotel was fairly easy, however it is not completely accurate with the actual building. The sloped part of the real hotel was longer than the straight part, but the limitation of certain types of pieces makes this difficult to replicate. It still looks relatively accurate though.

The base was incredibly complex as it had at least six different levels and everything had to line up. You can't see it but I added black tile floors to WTC's 4,5 and 6.

The entire project took over two months, most of which was waiting on pieces. I also used somewhere around 21,000 pieces making this the largest Lego model I have ever done.

I would like to say a special thank you to both Spencer and Joe; for without their work I never would have been able to create this awesome model in this way. The World Trade Center was one of my favorite places in the world and I am so glad I finally have an awesome model that I can always appreciate.

Quoting Rocco Buttliere This was such a fun build for me. I like how everyone has tweaked their own versions of Spencer's slightly. Yours has some nice personal touches! You should try starting your own line of skyscrapers like I have. You'd be great at it!
Thanks! I actually have started a small line of my own. I built the WTC and Sears Tower using nothing but MOCPages and Brickshelf pictures and then I built the AON Building, Trump International Tower and Empire State Building using your building guides! I just don't post them but I do really enjoy them. Props to you for taking the time to create the building guides for the rest of us to use!

Quoting Joe Beresford Hi, this is actually Joe Beresford that built the other version of the complex (sadly I've forgotten my password to get on here!) I would like to congratulate you on your work, its a fine rendition of the model! Observing yourself's, Spencer's, and my own model, it is interesting to see some of the subtle differences we've each put into this. For instance, your ideas for the streetlamp, goblets to form the bases, are ingenious! You have also inspired me to build 7 World Trade also, because it just adds another level of depth to the whole thing. Upon finishing uni, I was considering a complete rebuild, but this time lighting the thing from the inside, and have each building as a removable piece rather than fixed to the base. Anyway, again congrats my friend, it is brilliant. 10 out of 10!!
Thanks for the great comments Joe! Be sure to post pictures when you finish, I'm interested to see how your WTC 7 comes out, it was certainly a challenge for me! (not to mention expensive finding all those brown wing pieces)

Quoting Spencer R. Congrats Eric, you've done a wonderful job here. Kudos to you, Joe, and R.H. for replicating the model. I'm glad you kept track of the total piece count - I've always wondered how many pieces were in the entire model!
Thanks Spencer, you continue to inspire, I look forward to seeing your interpretation of the new WTC site!
