My rather long stint of unemployment last year led to many things: two of these things were replaying FF7 and also coming out of my dark ages. While I have wanted to build this since then, I haven't had the parts...until now.
About this creation
FF7 is a great game and has some of my all time favorite cyberpunk settings. Midgar was one of those things I searched all the Lego sites for, hoping someone had created an epic model for my viewing pleasure. While one may be out there, I never found it. Natually I have been forced to make my own.
The city definitely provided some challenges (the layout is round and almost every major structure is rounded). Frustrating as it was a times, it made me grow as a builder.
I was kinda ticked about all the mixed grays at first (I really had to tap my collection and this MOC led to my first BL order) but now I feel they give it a nice bit of variation, since I didn't have a lot of color choices.
Believe it or not, everything is actually secured to the base.
Believe me, I thought of adding the Sister-Ray plenty of times, but ran into a few too many problems with scale.
Gotta have a shot with the smoke (yes yes, I know I need more ice creams). Thinkin about doing another FF7 MOC. Let me know what you would like to see!

Who wouldn't love the Final Fantasy series? I still need to finish 5 and 6, 8 and 9 to be totally caught up before XIII releases....but Dragon Age, Demon's Souls, and Sacred 2 keep me busy!
I digress. Excellent build my friend! It brings back warm memories, and you did an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere of the city. |

This is the good side of unemployement (same for me since 2 months), plenty of time to make wonderful MOCs like this one. A lesson in greebles, and the overall structure is quite impressive. Great !

I LOVE FF7, Great representation of Midgar, although, If I remember, it is a wee bit darker, especially near the edges, because all the mako that has been extracted causes a "halo" of dark earth around the city. |

Absolutely epic! Great mix of "old" and "new" colours. This game was probably the most formative of my early years. Man! It was awesome. The only problem is, I try to go back to games like this and replay them, but it's not the same... for some reason... Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff. The Weapon creature things from FF7 would make some awesome inspiration for MOCs. |
