A working version of the L85A2 (nicknamed the SA80). Bullpup, fires bolt action from 11-brick magazines

And its time for another gun - the L85A2!!
This is the British Infantry Rifle, and is the most used variant in the SA80 family. The gun is bullpup, but can only be used by right-handers. This reason along with A1 version's large number of problems makes some people think that the gun is rubbish. IT ISN'T! The A2 is a very reliable, accurate and portable weapon, and easily makes a match for any of its bullpup classmates like the FAMAS or AUG. The A1, on the other hand, is rubbish.
My version features:
-my now-standard open bolt mech
-serious firepower
-bullpup designs
-high reliability
-two 11-brick magazines
-a very dense structure, making it one of my heaviest guns yet
-SUSAT sight / iron sights (these are integrated into the optional carrying handle)

The gun uses my open bolt mech, and the design is very similar to my AK-47s mech, except moved further back into the gun. If you don't know how my open bolt mech works, read up on my AK as the mech is basically the same.
As this is the rifle of my country (the UK), I decided to put in some extra bits to make the gun just that bit better - a 'moulded' fore-grip, a cheek rest, and I made the SUSAT more detailed than most of my sights. That said, I forgot the dust cover!!

 the two 11-brick mags. I've had LOADS of people asking for instructions for these, but I can't see how you can fail to be able to re-create these - you have views of both sides!! Use your heads people!!

 carrying handle with iron sights installed. Unlike my FAMAS, there is no way you could pick the gun up with the handle - it's attached by 3 studs! But then, technically, you're not supposed to use the handle as a handle anyway XD
 no sights
 the mag release - this took AGES to make, because of its design.
 basically, you press in this button to take out the mag.
 the mag well. When you press the mag release button, that orange piece moves out of the way, so the mag can slide out. Despite the difficult design, this mag release system has proved to be my most reliable, sturdy and easy to use mag release!
 this is the orange piece. I had to file one of the sides and the back down so that it would move smoothly when you pressed the button, otherwise the edges scraped against the walls of the mag well, and then it would get stuck. I didn't mind filing the piece, as it wasn't black ;D
 the 'RIS' - it doesn't look much like one, but I didn't have enough room to make a proper one. This one is stronger though, and when you have the SUSAT installed, it helps hold the two sides of the gun together.
 here you can see how the whole slab separates into the two sides. As there are studs on both sides, the they are held together when the SUSAT is installed, as it connects to all of them
 the iron sights and SUSAT (stands for Sight Unit Small Arms Trilux)
 and then the two mags as well - all the accessories
 aiming down the iron sights. The fore sight should actually be a pin, but I couldn't be bothered to make it like that, as that would involve more piece-breaking
 aiming down the SUSAT - the real one just has a triangular pin (where you get 'trilux' from), but i went for the tried-and-tested 2x round hole idea again.

Having seen the youtube video i just joined moc, and this is easily one of the most realistic rifles on here, you really need to write up instructions for this, it'd be pretty awesome to turn up at the range with one of these instead of the real thing, haha.

Really good work I made a working one that strips much like a real one. My mechanism is not as sophisticated as yours, mine is an closed bolt system it's pretty good only used 10 laggy bands 7 for fire 2 for bolt slide and 1 for mag. My bands move all the way back to the but pad for uber power. I'll show you my open gun if ya want |

nice! i especially love the SA-80, and this is a very good duplicate. i do have a suggestion, could you build a dragonuv? theres only one worth looking at on mocpages (really good, by alan 1207-deserves more likes than he has) and im quite curious to see your interpretation. |
