Windturbine v1
Early edition of a windturbine, and yes it spins.
About this creation

A windturbine is somewhat a very Danish creation. Denmark is the home of two of the world largest windturbine makers in the world, Vestas Wind Systems and NEG Micon.

It only seemed natural to create a windturbine in LEGO. This specific creation is at an early stage. The shape of the top is not satisfying, and the attachment and shape of the wings could be better.

Video

Here you can see a video of the windmill in action. Video - AVI (3.2 MB - 14 seconds)

The entire tower and the wings are seen here. A major error shows clearly here. Normally windturbines have three wings, this one only has two! Admittedly this was easier to build. I'll go for three wings in a later edition.

The top is where alle the fun happens. The wings are attached to a couple of technic bricks, mounted on a technic axle. A single motor drives the wings. The motor is geared down 13.5:1 and that is actually still a bit too fast.

Minifig view. The tower is nowhere realistic. Real life windturbines have a cylindrical tower.

I think it is a little bit strange to have a motor power a windmill. Shouldn't it be the other way round? But you get 3 points cause the generator housing really looks like one from Vestas. Carsten
