The defence of the Death Star's equatorial trench are made up of the formidable twin turbo-laser towers and the single turbo-laser batteries housed in the walls of the trench.
Grand Moff Tarkin over sees these defences as part of his rigorous command of the Death Star. Here we see him inspecting one of the single turbo-lasers and it's crew of Death Star Gunners.

The helmets of these Death Star Gunners have been made by myself and are available for sale.

The turbo-laser is a rapid fire local defence weapon. It is effective against light and medium sized craft.

The turbo-laser is mounted on a fully movable limber, controlled by one of the crew.

Once the four man team is in position and logged into the system they are in control of the gun.

Each of the four man crew play a vital role in the operation of the gun.
starting on the right:- movement of the gun-rotation and elevation, commander and fire control, Aiming and communication with fire control and finally coolant and waste gas operator.

Drone fighters are used for firing practice.

Through out the Death Star squads of stormtrooper patrol, lead through the maze of corridors by mouse droids.

Death Star Gunners are sourced from the ranks of the Imperial Navy fighter crews. Either trainees or pilots that did not make the strict grades.

Each gun and it's commander is connected to a fire control center. This unit picks up enemy craft and assigns a gun to the target.

It's a very nice creation, but my only complaint is that the turret looks a little boxy in the middle. Even then though you have to try to notice it and hardly detracts from it at all
