Exactly 291 years ago- 22th november 1718- in the Ockracoke inlet -in the coast of North Carolina- notorious pirate Blackbeard- real name most likely Edward Teach- was cornered by the Lieutenant Maynard of the British royal navy- instead of running away like normal pirates Blackbeard and his crew decided to stand and fight- to the death (Not fighting to run away which of course was pirates tradition ;P)

Wow, I just found this MOC, how truly excellent! You represented every detail wonderfully, and the custom Blackbeard is amazing. One question though, how did you make the flags? I'm trying to make some for my latest MOC I'm working on
flags are paper- i printed the picture to a piece of paper and then i cutted it and folded it half and glued it so that there is kinda hole for flagpole yo know- easy when the picture can be found from the net.... |

Also what is the name of your ship book that you show on your "Voc De Rotterdam Moc" and man I never would have destroyed it. Before you go how did you the grate on Maynards sloop Jane or Ranger. ~Jerrod~
That book is written by Björn Landström- swedish writer and ship-expert but it has appeared in many names- my book is finnish translation "Laiva" (finnish- simply a ship or big boat) there is many other variations that i have seen from the same writer and there is of course english version too- search from a library and i think you will find some book with same info even if Landström's book are not found... |

Thanks those are really helpful and Ive seen some of there ships and they are pretty good. Also do you have any ideas for a name for a black and brown navy Brigantine? ~Jerrod~
Brigantines are quite fast but still pretty dangerous when armed- what about "HMS Hunter", or "HMS Lightning" of course if it is british- french or spanish ship for example would be harder to name... |

Wow this is awsome. I've built a pretty good ship from the remains of Brick Beards Bounty and I'm trying to make some rigging. got any ideas, I thought I'd ask you because your's is so good. ~Jerrod~
Well i think that best rigging would be ropes out of ordinary string- i use fisherman's string it is white and sturdy but not very thick- it can be placed in the lego ship by either making knots (of course) or then if you have no patience to do that you can use black/gray studs and put the strings end under it (like i did- i have some knots also) for sails i recommend ordinary paper or colored paper- with printer or pencil you can make patterns if you like- with needle it is also possible to do "actions" for them like making they act like real sails but it needs patience- master shipbuilders like Bonaparte or Captain Greenhair (their beauties are worth of seeing btw) use actual cloths as sails but they are hard to get and you have to paint all the patterns- use what you like but i hope these tips helped -and thanks for checking out my mocs ;) |

This is really terrific! You demonstrated an excellent attention to detail with the flags and the powder horns, etc. The historical accuracy is wonderful as well; you even showed how they cut off Blackbeard’s head and hung it on the bow! |

Wow, very accurate, love Blackbeard's flag, both the ships look pretty cool, also I thought Blackbeard's ship was "The Queen Anne's Revenge" but I am smart enough to realize you know far more about pirates than I do, so who's ship was the QAR? It is still pretty probable that Blackbeard didn't fly his Jolly roger in the battle (it is not even certain whether or not that flag was his- still i like it and i had to use it :)

It was big three masted slaveship and once a flagship of the Blackbeard's fleet you are correct- but it is not known what caused it to sunk- some say that Blackbeard scuttled it himself to get rid off most of his crew but that is probably a legend he then used only his sloop "Adventure" that was legally registered in North Carolina... wreck of QAR is supposedly found there are many interesting artifacts- including gold- i don't believe that blackbeard would hve left his gold aboard ship if he caused it to sunk- so it was probably accident. But no one really knows...

his ship definatly should have been blown up, it would have been so cool. plus the explosion would have probably wrecked the other ship too, kind of like a "Black Beards Revenge" thing. pirates are so cool. Well good for Maynard it didn't -LOL Caesar looks like crazy pyromaniac (and Lando?!) when he is going to the hold to explode the powder XD

Someone finaly got the choped head right, I've seen a lot of MOCs were he's Marooned to death. He put cannon fuses in his beard and lit them, you know.
He did died in the battle and his head was cut off he didn't get marooned- what was the last hit whih killed him- swords slash to the neck or Maynard's pistolshot well there is lots of stories of that but he definitely died in the battle check every reliable source- and thanks for comments everyone :) |
