This is my first attempt at mech building. Although it was a bit frustrating figuring out how to handle joints (thanks to Mark Neumann for his very helpful joints advice) and weight balancing, I'm quite happy with the resulting end product. This is my own original design, but with heavy style influences from anime mechs and inspiration from Soren Roberts' detailing work.
All comments and criticism are welcome. Click on the Brickshelf button for a few more pics, including some WIP evolution photos. Thanks for looking.
Re: pleh!'s request for leg construction pics: The bare legs can be seen here, (the middle ones are just click hinges, and the ankle is done using this part), and also look at the notes on this Flickr photo for info on the shoulder joints. The rest is just tacking on parts to make things look good. Hope this helps.
Re: dillon's request for info on building the head: I've uploaded some constructions pics which should give an idea of how it was built -
this is incredible. the legs look a bit clumsy, and its thruster system doesn't exactly look like it could lift this thing, but otherwise this is great. those cannons are unbelievably well detailed, far better than anything I could come up with, and that's coming from someone who's been building Mechs for nearly a year. great work, especially for a first design.
Well done. I personally liked the guns without too much mechanical stuff, they blend in with the rest of the mech. The green accents came out great. If I were to critique anything, I would make the legs slightly longer. Nice mech.
This is great...I looks like a mix of a "moth" and a "elephant"...This is very neat...I can't say I have ever thought of such a mech...Very kewl(cool)...Could I ask you to visit my pages...I have a "mecha" that I call the "A.B."-M.W.T., could you view it and leave a review...Thanks for your time!...
OK, NOW, THAT WAS JUST TO SECURE THE FIRST REVIEW.AHEM ah yes, the mech looks VERY intimidating. i wouldnt like to bump into that thing at night! i was gonna ask if i could get deconstruction pics of the legs(or during construction pics?)well built!
