In the year 2020, the U.S.A has begun building a base on the moon. Living quarters have been built as well as an observatory, communications center, electricity generating facility, biosphere, mining station, and docking/refueling station for the transportation shuttle. This is the beginning of colonization and experimentation on the moon...
The living quarters currently house 30 people who each specialize in an area of science and are the beginning crew of the moon base. It also contains a food storage room, lab, and (of course) bathroom.
The transportation shuttle has been made to withstand multiple trips to and from the moon base and can be quickly refueled at a station next to the communications center.
Because of the lack of atmosphere on the moon, it is easier to observe other solar systems and nebula from the observatory built on the moon.
The electricity generating facility provides a high amount of power directly to the communications facility for a boost in communications signals. The power is then wirelessly sent to the other stations on the moon from the communications facility.
The electricity generating process is highly complex and requires many statistics to be monitored regularly.
The communications facility has a large communication dish for direct contact with earth and a smaller dish on the far side for communicating to other facilities on the moon.
The biosphere provides a place to experiment with how different plants respond to various conditions on the moon. So far, no plant has been found that can survive on the moon's surface, but scientists are hoping to create a hybrid plant that might be able to survive.
The mining station drills samples from the moon's surface to send to the lab for analyzing.
The moon rover scouts the surface of the moon looking for possible sites for new buildings or changes in the mineral content of the moon's surface. It transports a small shelter with it in case of long stays in a certain area.
The specialists on the moon hope to eventually have a larger colony on the moon so that further exploration can be done, but for now they are happy with the progress being made.
This is one of my first attempts at microscale, but I think it turned out pretty good. This whole project started when I was fiddling with a few pieces and came up with a small space ship. Then the rover came together, a communications base...and after awhile I worked up to this!
