Well, this is my entry for John Dawn's "UNE 3rd Fleet vs. COP 3rd Fleet MOC OFF" competition against Gus Indo. Wish me luck! (We all know I'll need it.)
About this creation
Hello fellow MOCer/viewer(s)! This is my 1st mid-scale U.N.E.N. MOC, that is competing against Gus Indo! Its named "Memoria" (Remembrance in Italian, I think.) to remember my [1] my Great-Grandma-C whom recently passed (No I'm not trying to get sympathy to get a higher rating), [2] first mid-scale ship I have built on or off MOCpages, [3] my first MOC entered in a competition, [4] and hopefully the first competition I'll win! And I'm sorry for the transparent colors, John. I couldn't find my transparent yellow pieces... Anyways, Enjoy!
Round 1 Requirements:
-Build a Destroyer at least 8 inches long according to the U.N.E./C.O.P. theme.
Features:
- 1st Science Fleet Tech! Wahoo!
- Two long-range Rail-guns/GUASS/Whatever, two independently moving frontal Heavy-Cannons, six independently moving Medium-Cannons, two 360-degree moving Dual-Medium-Cannons, two 160-degree moving Light-Cannons, and various other defenses that are too small to be seen.
- Four missile launch pads containing miscellaneous warheads.
- A big engine. :P
- A bridge capable of comfortably holding about 10 crew-members.
- Three starfighter-bays containing, you guessed it, starfighters. (Two located on the sides and one in the front.)
- And finally, the U.N.E.'s average E.M.C. Shields. (Experimental Magnetic Countermeasures.)

The unedited main pic.

Port.

Port-ish.

Back.

Front-ish.

A view of 1 of the 2 long-range Rail-guns/GUASS/Whatever(s) and the two round 1x1 stud-things are 2 of the 4 missile launch pads.

The grid piece is 1 of the 2 side starfighter-bays. (This one is starboard.)

The bridge.

The "big engines".

The Heavy-Cannons and the front starfighter-bay. (LOL! If you look closely at the right side cannon, you'll see some pet hair that wound up on the lens!)

The cannons do, in fact, move independently.

Underside.

The six Medium-Cannons.

One of the Dual-Medium-Cannons.

Two of the Light-Cannons.

They do rotate.

This is what I originally was going to post, but I decided to add the wing-things. See the difference?

And this is my mini-scale ship I was going to post BEFORE Dawn said it had to be at least 8 inches long. >:( Oh, well. At least I was able to make my final good-ish ship.
EDIT: Sorry for the lighting. My picture-taking-space was occupied. Hope it was acceptable.

Where the heck was I when all this happened? I wasnt present for the first mid scale moc from my second in command? Hey Matt dont put your scale building abilities down, youve built a great ship here and youve given me ideas for my own building techniques. For that I have to say thank you, those dont come by too often but when they do, i take full advantage of it. I only have i think one other moc that i built that was helped by the building technique from someone else. Again Matt, keep up the good work and always remember, Fight the Good Fight! |

Okay, here we go...For starters, Kudos for breaking the norm with the greys and going with another color. Also, you've got a fairly clean build here, so that's nice as well. On the down side, I think the design in less fitting for a destroyer (the category for this round), and looks very much like a small fighter. I also think as far as complexity goes, that Gus has ya beat. With those two things in mind, I'm giving my vote to Indo. Still a very nice MOC, though. Perhaps a couple small changes, and this would be a terrific small fighter. |
