Lambda-class T-4a shuttle 5th Edition
About this creation
Greetings everyone. I am back with a vengeance! What you see is my 5th edition Lambda shuttle. I think I can leave it alone now because I am sick of rebuilding it. This time, I shied away from fancy decals, lights, non-legos additions. It is 100% lego. Took many days of building and cramp back muscles as it always does to do a good build. I took everything I knew about the last version which was technically an update of version 3.1 (4.0) and broke that ship down. Then started fresh. Some goals I accomplished was reducing the form factor by many studs in all directions. The scale hits the sweet spot b/w lego’s official model and my version. Lighter and more swoshable, not as fragile ( I can actually pick up this model by the main fin and hold it!)- the whole build is a lot sturdier. Other features are rotating wing turrets, an accessible cockpit that is solid, looks sharp, easy to access interior-all I have to do is remove the side paneling instead of lifting off the roof, and finally working landing gear that requires no assistance to support the ship. It also folds neatly inside. This ship is a large scale playable version and looks smooth. I am very satisfied, finally enough to leave it alone. No, it is not perfect, but I d%$( near got close. But if you disagree or would like to point something out, I welcome your comments. Happy Holidays, ask questions as always, and be looking for old Star Wars builds I can now post here, including preliminary editions of this shuttle.

An interior view of the ship- has adequate space for 6 Royal Guards- 2 Stormtroopers, and seats for Vader and the Emperor.

This shows the landing gear on the left side retracted- completely folded up inside the hull. Took hours to figure this out.

Now you see the landing gear housed inside.

I put great effort into showing the underbelly details of the cockpit.

The cockpit fully opened for access. I went with a dual hinged mechanism both on the front and the back. Took days to get this to look right, to fit together snuggly, and to have the pilots sit inside so little space.

Do you see that trans black windshield? That IMO is the best windshield lego has ever released and I knew the moment I saw it that it would be perfect on this craft. The main problem was seating those pilots under the windshield in such a confined cockpit. Their freakin hats kept bumping messing up the closed position until I figured out the angle.

There is the rear turret tuck just under the main fin. Has the look... but not the functionality, it can not rotate because of how these bricks connect.

A lovely photo showing the boarding ramp. The minifig still has to duck some to go up it however. But I like how it locks in under the neck without being a blemish.

Quoting Lucas F. Very good, I have the old Lamba shuttle but I wish I had this one instead! :)
Thank you very much Lucas, Jake, and Mandalore. If I could sell you it I would, too bad its one of kind. One day though somebody in the lego community will invent a great way to make fast instructions, then I can share those. Until then, enjoy your shuttles! Cya

Okay, I commented on this some time ago, but it's not showing up yet. Guess I'll wait for it to turn up instead of trying to retype all of it ;)

That's one difficult ship. Great work, I like the playability of this one. I couldn't believe those landing gears can support the weight.

Very well done, I'm not sure what's my favorite part, it's just so detailed and accurate (well the outside, we never get to see the interior of the Lambda) I love how you made the ramp accurate, very well done.
