instructions for a more reliable, more accurate and altogether better version of my 416 CQB - enjoy!
About this creation
Merry Christmas guys, and here's what you've all been waiting for - instructions!!
try to stick to the instructions as much as possible - especially if I use a rare piece, as it probably means there's not that many other ways of doing what the piece does.
Please note: the instructions for this were made and completed way before I actually posted them. This means that some aspects have since been updated, such as the suppressor and the reflex. I haven't made complete instructions for these, as they're pretty simple to make. There are also some things that could have been updated from the original model, but haven't been - like the RIS. I just didn't have enough 1x2xHALF plates left, so the RIS still looks a bit rubbish. Sorry about that as well, but if you guys want to put them on your own model, feel free!
Part 1: download the .LXF instructions (if you don't already have LDD then you'll need that too).
Part 2: complete the instructions in the LDD file. I'm afraid the file is un-buyable, but if you don't already have the pieces I recommend Bricklink.
The LDD file will give you:
-the 'frame' of the gun (the two walls and the pistol grip)
-the top RIS, with iron sights* and a (new) reflex*
-the bottom RIS, with a vertical fore-grip*.
This means you still need:
-the barrel
-the trigger mech
-the hammer
-the cocking lever
-the mag release mech
-the suppressor*
-the stock
-the magazine(s*)
-the PEQ-2 light system*
*optional extras - can be removed or moved around and the gun should still operate (depending on exactly where you put them)
Here's a VIDEO showing some how to combine all the main sections together to make the gun
Step 3: follow these pic-based instructions:
 this is what you already have (see above for details)
MAG RELEASE
 make these (the axles are a 5M and a 5.5M, and the white thing is a (LEGO) rubber band)
 add the first piece
 add the second piece. the piece attaches into the wall and the L beam you have already got. the RB loops round the 5M beam. rotating the 5.5M axle should move the locking piece (for the mag)
THE FRAME
 just one thing here - add a small RB so that the forward assist is kept in position
THE STOCK
 again, the white piece is an RB. both axles are 5M, and the beam on the right is also a 5.
 here you attach the piece you just made. It's wonky because there's nothing to stop it being like that. It gets fixed in the next step >>
 add the bit you made one step ago ^ to fill that gap
 hope you can see that - a 16 and an 8 studded beam, then a 15 and a 5 smooth. That bit coming off the bottom is a 1x1
 shove it on the top of the other pieces
 then make a reverse copy and put that on, too
 shove that last bit here (on the front). This should mean that pressing the stock adjust lever should move the 5M smooth beam up and down. If not, something's gone wrong...
 make 2 of these (each)
 and attach them here (the other ones are on the other side)
 just make this bit up, as long as it fits and looks good, it works
 another view of it
 it just goes on the end like this
 pressing the stock adjust lever should make the 5M beam (in the gap) move
 you've now made the bottom half. Put it aside
 make this, and also a reverse of it
 connect them together with some 3x2s and other flat plates. if you want, you can now attach this to the top of the bottom half, but you'll only have to take it off again later.
THE (NEW EOTECH STYLE) REFLEX
Here's some pics of the new reflex I made after realising that the current one looks nothing like any reflex in existence. No instructions, just pics I'm afraid.
 
 
THE BARREL
 visible axles: one 5M, 2 3Ms and 1 2M (VISIBLE!!!)
 and also make this
 attach that ^ piece to the piece in step one
 the shark tooth in this pic is VITAL as it is what raises the bricks up one M as they get fired. The gun WILL NOT WORK it you use another piece!
 it goes on the end here
 make this
 and attach it here
 this is basically the same as the piece in step 1, but the white beam on the far left is a 7 instead of a 9M, and there are no axles
 it goes on the side here. check that a 4x1 brick can fit down it easily by just dropping one down. if it gets stuck, just widen the joints slightly and try again
TRIGGER MECH
 this bits all pretty self-explanatory
 these HAVE to be 6x1x0.5 beams, as otherwise you wont be able to get the 2M black connector pin in
 that bent beam is the trigger. If you haven't been making anything in this part black, that's ok, as its going to be inside the gun, but you'll want this to be black if you can get it
THE HAMMER
 just 2 pics of it. You should be able to make it. put a substantial amount of RBs on it to give it power - I used 6
THE COCKING HANDLE
There are 2 ways to build the handle, and depends on your preference. Left pic is flat, right pic is raised and to the rear. If doing the handle in pic 2, make sure that the handle rises to the opposite side to the hook at the other end (see pic 1 of this step)
 
THE SUPPRESSOR
 make 2 of these, but one without the protruding 3M axles
 then this
 then put them together
then add the copy you made of step 1
Since taking those pics, I've changed the suppressor, by adding a connector to the part above the barrel. This stops the suppressor from drooping. Note also the change in the muzzle of the barrel to allow the suppressor to attach to it:
  
THE PEQ-2
 this was built completely from memory of what PEQ-2s look like. Because of this, its not exactly an accurate model, but it does the job
 I'm not gonna make proper instructions for this bit, as I didn't exactly stick to the Lego building rules - I spliced a 9v battery adaptor onto a 2x2 wired brick+lead, allowing me to make my own battery box that was tiny compared with Lego's version. This meant that the whole box was much smaller
 here's the electrics
 the real thing uses infra-red beams, I just used a Lego light bulb and an RCX light sensor
This is how I attached the tire
 
THE MAGAZINE
 carry these instructions out twice to get the 2 mags
 start with this: an 11M beam, a 9M beam, etc
 add two more 11s and 2 more 9s
 this is your brick stopper
 it goes in here
 start the other edge: two 11Ms and 7M, with other smaller beams and bricks
 add the guide beams
 this is the loop on the bottom of the mag. you use it to hook the mag onto a belt clip (built later)
 attach it with a 3M axle (to the left) and two 6M axles
 this is the mag ram that pushes the bricks upwards. Make sure the RB is attached in the middle
 it attaches in here (the first edge), looping around a 4M axle
 connect them together
 and that's the mag. Make two if you can, then use the piece in the next step to help with quick changes
MAG BELT CLIPS
 pretty self-explanatory. You hook it onto your belt, and then any spare mags you have off the end of them. I have 2 of them, as I have 2 mags - while reloading, there will be a point when both mags will be on my belt (if I'm using them). Use them if you want to reduce the size+weight of the gun, or if you have more than 2 mags
like this:
 
DOUBLE MAG CLIP
 use this to clip 2 mags together. to change mags just release the mag and shift the double mag along sideways and insert a full mag. this will only hold 2 mags together. if you have 3 mags, consider using this AND some belt clips
 note: after thorough usage, I've realised that having the two halves of the joiner connected together can cause the mags to not feed properly, due to the fact that their two sides (front+back) are being squeezed together too much, so the bricks cant get up the mag from below the bend. to solve the problem, simply remove the two 2M connector pins from the middle (in the middle of the pic). If more problems occur, fiddle about with it until it works, or just don't use it.
 attach it to one mag like this
 then shove the other mag on top
 it fits into the gun like this (and the opposite when loading the other mag)
ASSEMBLY
The VIDEO also shows how to do this
 start with the left side of the fram and the barrel
 put them together. Note the position of the shark tooth bit - it's slightly angled down (but you cant see it very well in the pic)
 get the hammer and the cocking handle, and put their RBs near the hole in the L beam
 put a 5M axle through the hole in the L beam, and also through the loops of ALL the bands. The friction from the rubber will keep it in place; also there is part of the RIS blocking the end of the hole. (You may find it difficult to insert the axle. just keep doing it until you get it)
 slide the hammer into the barrel from the back, and underneath the black axles
 then get the trigger mech
 and attach it like this. The 4M axle on the grey L beam should go in the same hole as a red circle 1x1 brick on the other side, but as its a 4M axle, it doesn't need all of the hole, so it should fit (unless I got the LDD wrong :L)
 move the cocking handle round and slot it in (it will still fall out the top if you turn the gun upside-down)
 add the other wall
 and the ejection port set-up
 add the mag release lever - yes, I'm afraid it is a lever, not a button. I couldn't figure out a compact enough mech where you didn't have to press the button when you inserted the mag, which is how most peoples' button-type mag releases seem to work. Just push the lower end of the 'button' forward with your trigger finger and the mag should fall out
 then get the bottom RIS and verti-grip set-up
 and attach it like this.
Get the top RIS and attach that as well. You may want to draw a cross on the windscreen/lens on the reflex, like I did, if you aren't planning on using it again - it just makes it that bit more realistic
 
If you put the 2 parts of the stock together, break them again, and fix them onto the back of the gun. It should be locked unless the adjustment lever is pressed, and then it should slide between the settings. Also, you shouldn't be able to slide it off the end.
  
this shows the back of the stock with the stock in closed and open and closed positions - the hole in the back SHOULD appear!!
 
YOU HAVE FINISHED THE MAIN PART OF THE GUN - NOW CUSTOMISE IT!!
To add the suppressor (in the instructions for it the new version attaches differently - as shown)
 
to add the PEQ-2 (this can also be attached on the top or the side - just plonk it where you want it!)
 
 I also added a little bolt release button - but its a bit too high up
CONGRATULATIONS - YOU HAVE COMPLETELY FINISHED THE HK416 CQB ASSAULT RIFLE!! MOD IT, SHOOT IT, OR JUST ADMIRE IT - ITS YOURS TO KEEP!!!
PS. guys, there's one last thing id like to say: please don't make this and then post it without actually changing anything - that would be taking the 'My Own' out of MOCPages. If you mod it, or do something else to it, or just take the mech and use it in another gun, then that's alright, but no exact copies please.
HOW TO USE THE LDD DOWNLOAD: download the .zip file, and extract all the files. There should be 2 files, a .png and a .lxfml. Rename the .lxfml to a .lxf file, then open it as normal with LDD.

Every week i look 5 or 6 times on your page for guns. i've seen al the guns. i hate it that u have stopped. :'( But i love u cause u maked instructions! i've tryed this guns like 5/6 times. Hey this is so cool, I really like it and I would love to build it, but sadly I don't have the pieces for most of the body. So could you make something with the same internals, but have a much smaller body? If you could do that I would really appreciate it. To give you an idea, the mini HK MP5 would be a really good gun to build that I would probably have the pieces for. And yes I do know that there is someone who already built one that shoots. and I actually did build it, but I never got it to work.

You got them in pretty much every single old bionicle set that ever existed. By old I mean first generation, not hero factory or whatever replaced bionicle. Try buying one on Bricklink.com, they cost like 2 cents or something really cheap. |

I clicked on the link and clicked open but whenever it goes to LDD it say work offline when i click offline it closes. Any tips? Then when it works it say unable to import this file. |

Could you add everything to the LDD? There are some parts not included in the LDD which makes it hard to follow. Since there are some pieces that will take a long time to find. |

hope you can see that - a 16 and an 8 studded beam, then a 15 and a 5 smooth. that bit coming off the bottom is a 1x1they dont fit can u look at the pic cus i dont get it ples help thxs colin |

great instructions the only depresing thing is that alot of the pieces that you use can't be brought through lego.com so i can't get any of the pieces i need and ebay is way to slow and pricey(plus unreliable in this sort of thing) and i have found the pieces i need on ebay but i don't want to buy 200 of them so is there any were you recemend to find these pieces that lego can't be botherd to allow you to buy thank you. |

Jack Streat the instructions are very good and detailed
If a person who stood in a dark place / ROM, the person would believe that it is a real gun, but have you thought about building a Schmeisser MP40 or MP44 Schmeiser from WWII, but if you build one of them, I recommend building MP44 Schmeiser because the magazine is bigger, or you can also build a Tavor TAR 21 |

Great gun jack and thanks for the instructions i have built this gun and its great i did have a problem with parts (not rare ones) but i managed to makeit using difffrent parts also i couldn't get the magazine to work so i remade it and it still didnt work so i made a custom magazine for it and it works great and i also didnt build the verti-grip but im not really bothered anyway thanks for the instructions and great going on the gun i might use this mech or the mech on your new gun to make a bolt-action rifle or something like that thanks anyway :)!!!!! |

Hey Jack GREAT instructions. I did not quite have enough peices to do it exactly but with a little but substutions i have a working model! Your mechanizams look extremly complex...but in reality they are very simple. I would also like to ask. On your new video of the G36 series you showed the mech. It looks like a mini version of this mech, is this true ? Keep up the awsome work :) |
