Crater Express Taxi Service operates V-59 model moonbase compatible spacecars. Volesky Aerospace realized the potential for civilian counterparts to their V-57 fighters, and the V-59 was an immediate success. But don't take our word for it, call 555-8585 and try a Crater Express for yourself today!
About this creation
This taxi features a fully moonbase compatible airlock, luggage storage shelves, a fully enclosed cockpit, a fold down glass panel between the pilot and the passengers (like the partitions between front and back in modern taxis) and runs on a modified Whateverly Labs power cell. It has no landing gear because it "lands" by connecting with a moonbase corridor.
The ship stems from an idea I got while building my Magnum fighter. When Adrian Drake announced his civilian space contest I decided it was time to build it. Dispite the rather simple construction of the main body, I'm quite pleased with the result.

This is the first time I've used custom stickers. They're not perfect, but they get the job done.

See the Whateverly fuel cell on the back there? No? Trust me, it's camoflaged, but it's there.

The top greebs may well be my favorite part of the ship.

Alternately, the engines may also be my favorite part. They are much refined and almost completely redesigned compared to their predecessors on the Magnum.

I had a little fun with the stickers. I hope to someday build a Moongolian Barbecue moonbase module.

The underside is the one thing that never quite looked perfect. I couldn't raise the floor due to the interior details, and I didn't want to make the runners on the outside edges of the underside go below the moonbase connection slopey part.

Coming in for docking with Generic Moonbase Corridor #1

The Trans blue parts on the leading edge of the taxi's corridor connector are supposed to be docking markers. I forgot to add them to the corridor. Basically the pilot would line up the marker lights on his ship with those of the corridor to know when he's at the right level.

Here's the interior with luxurious imitation leather bench seats.

Looks like this crew forgot their DP (designated pilot).

All the requisite members are there: the noisy drunk who likes is the only one who likes hearing himself talk, the ladies' man, the girl who's too drunk to realize what an asshole he is, her friend who feels like a fifth wheel, but wants to watch out for her friend but isn't doing a very good job because she's drinking too, and the sh*tfaced drunkard who has no clue what's going on.

Miss bright orange hair looks a bit distressed. I guess I would be too if I got stuck with a hundred dollar taxi fare.

The driver has his own compartment to keep him safe from rowdy passengers (like those in the preceding photos). When the day is done, just push the button and his door slides open.
It took me forever to come up with this simple solution.

I Almost love this ship. The checkerboard taxi pattern on the sides is really great.
What ruins it is the greebles, especially on the bottom and rear, they seem just too random and not well thought out. |
