"Shot through the heart and you're to blame, you give love...a bad name."
About this creation
After receiving an inspiring comment from Mark Kelso a few weeks ago, I dove into what I thought would be an epic, awesomely frightening, bloody, huge, good ol' fashion vampire MOC. Turns out I had about a third of the pieces needed to create this monstrosity. So after cursing my incompetent headlight brick supply, I set about to downsizing and eventually scratching my vampire minifigs altogether.
So the lesson learned? There's always tomorrow to build what you can't today. And know your enemy. But that's a different story.

Anywheeze...if you're about to complain about the plants (or lack thereof) I'm gonna have to tell you to cap it in advance. While building this MOC I was focusing on several new brick-built landscape techniques rather than delving into the extensive foliage collection I have at my very fingertips. So like I said...cap it. And duct tape the lip shut. And throw it in the Puget Sound.

But I am quite pleased how well the tower walls turned out in the end. Castle greebs rock.

So does Pearls Before Swine, but that has absolutely nothing to do with Lego whatsoever. But who am I to talk? Neither did Twilight. Technically I could talk about virtually anything. Johnny Cash, Snow Geese, Billy Joe Armstrong, Phipson's secret Skittles stash...

Or I could talk about how I have nothing to talk about.

That'd work. Better than Billy Joe, that's for certain.

Here we find our poor little friend being dragged to his eventual doom within the "vampire tower". So lest you suffer the same fate, go get some sleep, sniff some gasoline, and build Lego.

Oh, and before I forget...Happy New Year.

This is a gorgeous build JD!! The walls are fantastic, and leave me scratching my head on how you did them. Can't wait to get home and see if I can duplicate those ribs along the walls. |

I can always get inspired to build another castle creation when I see your stuff.... the detail on the tower is amazing!! And by the way funny you should just put you Bon Jovi lyrics up there because I love the song and I was just singing it in my head! |

My God, JD...your builds just keep getting sexier! LOVE the steps with those pillar/post/divder-type-thingies. And the walls are perfection. Now lets add an entire castle behind that!!!!

WOW. Kudos to you JD for using Flickr's more powerful server to generate some fantastic quality photos. Aside from your wonderful presentation, this tower has some fancy wall work. Great work on the roof too! The only thing that I don't like is the lack of the terrain/landscape. You have unfilled space that is very blank and it makes the entire MOC have a very unfinished look to it. This is a prime example of a picture quality that I'd give an A+ to. Today I had the chance to build my Apocalypse build as well as watch football the entire day! I was able to experiment with a little test in which I uploaded the same picture (at 2000dpi) to both MOCpages and Flickr, comparing the images.I was shocked at the huge quality and resolution difference. I'm always uploading through Flickr's server now. Anyway, I'm going off on a tangent, great work! -Dylan |

Your skills are much improving; are you a member of Classic Castle?
While I have considered doing so in years past (for various reasons) I am not currently a member of Classic Castle. But I am a frequent visitor to the website and am inspired by all those who are there. (Several of whom I had the pleasure of meeting in person at BrickCon)

Oh my, scary. May I build some form of vampire MOC related to this? I got some of the new screaming faces from Space Police 2010 and Atlantis. I got the Green Grocer! I had to say that, sorry. I might do a comic series in it... Is it just me, or does the vampire look like a clone? I also got skinny jeans and flannel shirts and a Volcom shirt. I know, not the point, but you did it up there. I even got LEGO Toy Story. The army men could be elfs for you. They're green. I'm feeling like building some castle. I haven't since I was 11. I'm 14. Knight Kingdom is why I liked lego. If they weren't there, I wouldn't be here. I might have been normal. (Why aren't there any asian hobos?) Do you know of the 'Mars Volta'? Don't even look them up, they're l@me, but the guitar player is really good. I only know this because my dad is a guitar builder. Wow, that got long fast. So, yah. Please tell me if I can build that Vampire MOC. I'm really sorry. Merry Happy whatever! |

The Murison Tower, a building with excellent proportions! You can make anything twice the scale and extrude it to great heights but if a building stands the thumbnail test - when it still looks good on a small picture - it is a great building. And YOU_ pass the test.
PS. About the green stuff - I didn't even notice as I do not own any piece myself... |
