A fully functioning Remote controlled Lego Technic 8294 Excavator
About this creation
My 4th and latest creation starting from a factory 8294 Lego Excavator. 3 remotes, 2 battery boxes, 4 IR Receivers, 6 m-motors, an extra linear actuator, and lights. Next to the mobile crane, this was a major challenge. I started first with adding the 3rd linear actuator for bucket only control. Believe me, this was no easy thing to do, but not impossible. I wanted to also be able to have full 360° movement, so this meant no wires through the hole to the mobile section. 3 m-motors 2 IR receivers and a battery box up top. The mobile section was reworked 3 times and lengthened to allow rotation of the upper part. Mobile section also has 3 m-motors 2 IR receivers, and a battery box. This may be my 2nd favorite of all technics yet next to the mobile crane. I want to shoot videos of all models eventually for all to see that they actually are remotely controlled. This is a beautiful model to watch.
A profile shot of the excavator ready for some action with 3 remote controls. Black sticks operate the 3 sections of the boom, red is for rotation, and the 2 gray is for motion.
Boom fully extended, very nice reach. I love this shot!
Notice the bucket movement only from the 3rd actuator.
The bucket resting on ground flat, full control over whole boom using a 3rd actuator.
This is a nice feature, the removal of 2 pins, and a gear from the bottom separate the two.

Way to go! Why couldn't lego have sold them like this? Have you seen the 8043 excavator coming out later this year?
I have seen the 8043 and can't wait to get my hands on it to tweak it out! I am in the process of revising a few things on this model. I am totally redesigning the boom, and all the new parts that lego has come up with are very cool. Just waiting on parts right now. I would like to add a v6 engine, and more color.
