A big glass-clad, 26-story skyscraper being built by busy Lego people
About this creation

Finally finished, with lush green landscaping at the base and a bustling streetscape of gawking minifigs, wondering why the zoning board permitted this behemoth.

At the base of the tower, the streets have finally been put back together and minifigs no longer have to rush by covering their heads lest some fool construction worker drop something 25 stories up.

If only i had any pieces left, this would be the start of a pretty sweet cityscape.

It's fully topped off, with the spire some thirty stories above the street! The construction walls have come down and site cleanup can begin. Better start looking for tenants now, in this economy!

As the project nears 9 months old, it is also getting up towards completion, with the 22nd floor being nearly finished, under tapering windows. It's a closely guarded secret as to how tall it will eventually be. Secret because i don't know how i will build it with so few pieces left.

This all gets harder on the minifigs, of course.
Well, it's up to 13 finished floors now, with the elevator shaft on the 17th. Some of these floors are very creatively assembled from the most faded dregs of my vast and ancient collection of bricks.
It's a very long way down from the 20-story tall tower crane, yet the Lego men and women still don't seem to believe in safety harnesses.
Here, it's up to the 10th floor, with the transition made from the big, window-gobbling base cross-section to a slightly less profligate usage of parts as it tapers upward.
The foundation, set up to provide for the development with a pedestal and landscaped plaza at the base.
Construction workers are busily helping to build the skyscraper.
Presently, the skyscraper has eight floors fully enclosed and completed, with the elevator shaft up to the 13th floor. The tower crane exceeds twenty stories. In this picture, it's short of that, though.
No construction site is complete with out a porta-potty.

The elevator's pulley driven. i forget if i described it on another page, but i came up with a good design using the old 'wheels-with-spring-loaded-shocks' pieces from the early '90s. Basically, you build the elevator one stud narrower and shallower than the shaft, and use the shocks to center widthwise and push it gently up against the door side, while still allowing it to hoist smoothly. There's one pulley up top, and one on the bottom. Sight of those mechanisms, of course, has been long ago buried by the other stories. Glad you like it. |

Awesome! Looks like it's going to have a working elevator? What's the plan for that... worm / rack / cable driven? |
