Fracture is a Lego Transformer that really transforms. I now have pictures showing that process! He is the fourth of my Transformers.
About this creation
Fracture was not always an Autobot. He was originally a Decepticon, one of the Constructicons. He thought it would be fun, but he hated everything about being a Decepticon, especially their poor work ethic. After several months of misery, he disappeared. He was discovered by the NEST team in Dubai, building the Burj Dubai skyscraper. Now, he travels the world, contentedly building casinos, luxury apartments, and other monuments to commercialism.
Fracture has three configurations in vehicle mode. He can have a bucket scoop, a snowplow-looking scoop, or a forklift. They pop on and off fairly easily, and all three can accomodate his transformation. Here you can see Fracture with a hard-working all-American highway maintenance engineer. Now, get to work, you two.
Here's a rear view. I put a tank on the back, because I think forklifts have extra weight back there so they don't tip. It becomes a gun later, you'll see.
This is the first time I've ever shown the underside of one of my Transformers. It doesn't look that complicated. You should know, though, that this baby represents over 20 hours of work.
Time to transform! 1) Here's Fracture. 2)Pull out the scoop, open it up, and open the hood. 3) Rotate the two halves of the cab area to be the arms. 4) Pull out the forearms.
5) Rotate the arms, and separate the legs. 6) Unfold the legs, and pull out the head. 7) Move the fenders by the head slightly away from the head. 8) Bring around the feet, and spread the toes. You're done!
Now we're talking - Robot mode! Fracture is by far the coolest robot I've ever made. When he's standing on my kitchen counter, I can't stop looking at him.
Why the name Fracture? Well, it sounds like a Decepticon name, which fits the back story I had for him. It also was the best I could do after an hour or so looking at various thesauruses.
This picture was supposed to show him walking, but he looks like he's hanging his head in shame. It must have been a bad battle.
I like this picture because it shows the amazing posability Fracture has.
Compare the chest area with the next three pictures.
These last three pictures show some improvements I've made to Fracture's chest. I like it better. Sorry, Chas - I know I told you I'd keep the slope swirl in the middle. I was just playing around with changing it, and I liked it.
It's the hunchback of Cybertron! His scoop is the heaviest of his attachments, and he compensates with a slight hunch. The bulk on his back completes the image.
Ok... HOW did I miss THIS!??! Wow Wes, this is a thing of beauty! That one pic that you don't like of him walking is probably my favorite actually. Amazing work, please don't stop (insert joke if you must) ~ Chris.
I was sceptical at first this wasn't two separate models. But having compared all the robot pics with the vehicle pics I can definitely see how the transformation works.
Excellent design with two very very good modes.
What would have made it perfect is if you could have turned the construction tools (back hoe, shovel, crane) into weapons for the robot mode.
Wes, this is truly my favourite LEGO transformer to date, I love how you are able to make both transformations so well. Do you have any particular tips on someone such as I who is inspired to build one after looking at this? :)
btw, i have added you as a favourite builder because of your amazing building skills, would you mind if i mentioned you under my "favourite builders" section on my homepage? thanks. :)

BTW there really is a Fracture Decepticon.
Oh man! It's such a cool name, I should have known. Often I'll google my name idea to make sure it's not already taken, and this is why. Oh well, it's too late to change it now! Maybe I'll see if I can work it into the back story somehow. Thanks Heath!
This is definitely your best transfomer. Both modes look fantastic and totally as they couldn't transform, I mean the vehicle alone could be a normal lego city set. I also love the story, I just read today about the Burj Dubai :) The tank is pretty awesome and to use it as his gun is genial! All in all great job!
