I've been working on this mosaic for a while now. It's a B&W mosaic created using 1x1 corner panels and tiles. The idea is that by lighting the piece appropriately the corners cast shadows to create the "dark" dots that make up the portrait. The shot above is of the piece standing against a chair with a light shining such that most of the 1x1 corners cast a shadow to create a dark area or dot. If you squint a bit you can see the face of a portrait I've used in earlier works.

About this creation

Here's a shot of the mosaic as I hold it under a flood lamp as I experimented with various lighting angles.

Here's the piece under white and blue LEDs. It turned out that it's fairly tricky to make the corners all cast enough shadow to create the dots.

Thanks for the kind words. You're right - this is a small piece of the other mosaic. I'd actually planned on doing the whole thing but I ran out of corner panels. Why do I always seem to pick the most expensive pieces? :-)
