1/9 TVR Cerbera Speed 12 - WIP 2
second WIP page for the model of the british beast.
About this creation
Hi,

This is a new page with old stuff. I've refrained from posting these photos for a long time, as I thought they were too near the completion of the car to merit a WIP page on their own; but since A) it won't be finished these christmas holidays, as planned (not my fault, mess-up with the parts order...gotto wait til my next trip over in summer to finish it...) and B) a few other models also had small, 'unworthy' updates, I decided to do it all today so y'all can at least see the progression so far. It hasn't been touched for at least 4 months so these photos come from a little while back, but still show considerably more of the model than the first WIP page..

Before getting to this, these are some other pages I've updated :
- Fast and Furious style Tuned Supercar (8880) (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/61842) : put some photos of the pneumatic system alone, and destruction excess
- James Bond 007 Lotus Esprit S1 Submarine (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/133346) : found some old photos taken halfway through building
- WIP 3 - 1/10 1929 Bugatti Type 46 (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/108344) : added some photos of the current state, somewhere between that third WIP page and completion. Same problem as this one - will bhave to wait for the summer holidays to finish it :(
- Vocal Cat test drives the 1/3 Lamborghini Cala (and wheel mockup) (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/135106) : added some photos of one of my other cats 'test driving' it :)

Anyway to the TVR. You can read up on the car anywhere on the internet so I'll skip the boring anorak paragraph and just say that here are 37 more photos since the first WIP page showing how I've gone about making the interior, doors, roof, spoiler, engine, top-half-of-rear-end, sides, wheel arches, bonnet.... pretty much everything else. Like my Bugatti model, it's also at the "nearly done, just needs a couple dozen more known parts" stage.
It's quite a hard shape to copy in lego, really - check out photos on google - so it was quite a challenge; but a fun challenge that I enjoyed.

The two parts I found hardest to make accurate were... I don't think there's a word for it, the top bits of the doors; the lines where they meet the roof.. I got the shape OK in the end, but with not the nicest way of building it. I can't see any better way of doing so, though unfortunately. Not in this scale, anyway.
The other hard bit was the bonnet. In real life, it's probably about as thick as one lego plate in most areas. Being 1/9 scale it's impossible to make it to scale - especially where some bits under the slits had to be 3 plates (one brick) deep; so it wasn't easy doing the whole bonnet and engine area. I like how it turned out, considering - though the front of the car is one of the areas that still needs the most parts. Also, there are two rows of slits in the bonnet on either side - one inner row horizontal, an outer row diagonal. This latter row was quite simple not possible to make out of lego, so I simply left it out. Most people probably wouldn't have realised had I not just told you.
Going back to the doors, I still think the Lego group are pansies when it comes to that.
They couldn't find a way to build their VW beetle with doors, or it'd be too weak. Well I'm telling you that this model is pretty darn strong round the door area, whether they're open or closed. I could have built doors into my Bugatti model too. For some reason I didn't, not sure why. Maybe I hadn't thought of a good way to at the time. Looking at it now, I can see an easy way. Firas Abu-Jaber makes lots of amazing larrge scale cars, with doors, ad his models don't look weak. So Lego group, next time you make a big car, like the beetle, please give us the 'luxury' of opening doors. OK, that's today's rant out of the way lol...

Anyway, hope you like it; and don't forget to check out the Bugatti, if not more of the models I've updated - as that's looking quite good aswell, now :)

P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=stacey_love )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !
P.P.S. I'm not getting anything out of 'advertising' for them; they're genuinely a good lego shop who'll really do their best for you :)

Quoting Viktor H. I honestly think it'd look better in pearlescent purple-blue-strawberry(you know the factory colours, dont ya?). Seems like we dont have the same colour-taste, do we? Anyway, it was love at first glance when I saw this in Forza 3. Too bad I dont have the money for this sleek whale. You really caught the back. Looking forward for the front.
Haha if you can get me some pearlescent purple-blue-strawberry lego bricks I'll make one that colour :)

Quoting Rafael Quintal Where did you mention the tyres, because i don't see them :P Either that or i'm blind. I'm guessing those that come on the most recent lego ferrari f1 car, right?
Hmm pretty dumb of me to type the message and forget to paste the link lol - these ones: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=44772c01

Quoting Rafael Quintal its really getting there. I love the gear lever. What tyres you gonna use?
Thanks :) Hoping to use these tires and wheels (quite a limited choice when it comes to big lego wheels - especially at a reasonable price) , either in grey or black, whichever's cheaper (the real car has been fitted with both colours at different times so they're both accurate)
