Count Dooku's Solar Sailer
Hello all! This is my faviourite ship in the entire star wars ship collection. I've always loved the concept art version more then the geonosian version that is seen in the movies so if you don't recognize it i wouldn't be surprised. I've only seen one other Solar Sailer made and that was by Ryan Wood and his was a mini fig scale where as mine is micro scale.
About this creation
Count Dooku's solar sailer is a hybrid of obscure technologies, its core body being a modified Punworcca 116-class sloop while the sail was provided by the Count himself. Geonosian engineers, who have long had a history of designing atmospheric sailing vessels, had no problem merging the two into the finished craft.
The term solar sail is a misnomer, since Count Dooku's interstellar sloop uses an as-yet unknown brand of energetic propulsion far more exotic than stellar radiation. Dooku acquired the delicate and ancient sail from mysterious Gree artisans, who developed a technology that harnesses supralight emissions for interstellar travel.

The solar sailer, like other Geonosian ships, uses a sophisticated array of narrow tractor/repulsor beams as offensive grapples and steering aids when in flight, affording the vessel an impressive maneuverability.

The back view. as you can see I've made it orange like Ryan Wood did and as i figured, it stands out more, so good colour choice. The thrusters were not a difficult choice, simple yet elegant which is what this ship is all about

The stands. Now this was interesting, when i was building this i found out that the whole thing was not at all balanced and not very sturdy when landing. So for the sake of it i put in 2 extra little rods at the back to help keep it balanced and all in all it suited it quite lovely.

Now I've actually made this ship so it can unfold like the fan blade fighter in the clone wars but it looks really ugly. So i wont show you a pic quite yet not until I've worked it out

The cockpit. Now as i Ryan Wood has it in his he has the cockpit split into 2 components, i dunno if that's the ships actual design or his thinking. Either was i loved it so i did the same thing to mine.

And this what it looks like unfolded! In flight mode spectacular stuff, as you can see I've still left the ends still a little hinged, It looked alot better this was.

Very awesome, I'm super excited to see someone else tackle this great design, and you pulled it off wonderfully in microscale (and in LDD!)
