This is a response to a prior commercial I did.
The biggest thing I built for this was the green meteor
Here is a shot of the messy technic innards
I was also proud of the landscaping I did to flesh out the new pirates island baseplate.
I had a great experience at the Lego store on Michigan Avenue (which I visit on a regular basis), the night I was going to shoot the final scenes. I have built up a relationship with Katy, one of the employees there and get her advice on stuff to buy above and beyond the stuff I already knew I wanted. I showed her what I had of the animation so far on my laptop and told I was still trying to figure out what to do for "Green is the worst color ever!" I said that I was thinking of doing a bunch of short vignettes of various green monsters/disasters. She said, "I think I have something in the back, wait here." A few minutes later she came back with a grab bag she had hand picked from extra pieces they had lying around the back of the store. The stuff on the right were pieces I didn't have yet and would have had to pay a lot to get on bricklink or through the sets. Very awesome. I ended up paying $8 for these plus several handfuls of regular pick a brick. Very awesome.
Here's a shot of my "studio" right after I finished the last scene. It felt like more of a mes than it looks like in this picture.
