After the first tests of the A9 - Ornithopter, the Army of the Air buy the vehicle’s patent from professor Bernhard Kaempfer.
Army technicians perform some changes to the original design. The most significant is the placement of a large incendiary bomb at the bottom of the aircraft. The driving force is also modified by increasing the power of maneuver and speed but decreasing autonomy. Finally, it is furnished with a repeating rifle to use in front of the pilot.
The vehicle was being used at the end of 2870 in the war in Grann. It was used as a first line of defense. When undetected enemy airships, several A9s took flight with the intention of dropping its single bomb on top of enemies. With the limited autonomy, the A9 were collected by land.
The use of A9s was decisive in the battles of the first half of the seventies of the Century XXIX DD and led to the beginning of the evolution of aerial vehicles without balloon.
