About this creation
This is my modification of the (relatively) new Batmobile set. Basically, I did not try to build any particular Batmobile from television, films, or comics, but just built what I would want to drive if I were the Batman. Hope you like!

Here we have a nice overhead shot of the cockpit and the front of the car. Notice that I slimmed down the chassis immediately behind the front wheel wells. Also, I replaced the full canopy with a small windhshield, making this Batmobile a convertible (less secure from tampering by Two-face, but infinitely cooler). Also, in the cockpit you can see exposed wiring and such. I always pictured the Batmobile as smooth and armored on the outside, and sort of unfinished and cobbled together on the inside (since presumably the Batman built most of it by hand!)

Here is the front - pretty imposing, I think. Mainly, I just took out the launcher thingy (fine for kids, but silly looking in my opinion) and replaced it with a subtler engine intake. This, however, allowed for a complete redesign of the central hood structure.
How does Batman see over that blower, you might ask? Remember, he can drive this thing using only the monitors in the cockpit, eliminating the need for any real forward visibility!

This shot emphasizes the sporty, speedster aspect of the car. You can also see the addition of some silver, which contrasts with the gold wheels nicely.

Another change that I made, that purists are likely to cringe over, is the elimination of the jet engine in the back. I figures that the souped-up traditional engine made this version fast enough, and I just like the rounded, tapering trunk here.
Notice the two pairs of chrome exhaust pipes.

And here is the profile. The most striking change that you can see in this photo is that I used hinges to sweep the Bat-wings back, providing a much lower profile. I got the idea to do this from Jim Foulds (although he accomplishes it differently in his own Batmobile).

The overhead shot, showing off the hot rod engine. I think the use of silver and chrome for the engine turned out pretty cool (although in my opinion one can never have or use too much chrome!)

It looks sleek and fast, just as Batmobile should be. Great work! |
