The 1980s saw some of the best movie cars of all time and this is one of them, the ECTO 1. I had one rule when building this "As functional as asthetics would allow". All the doors open, the tailgate opens (>90 degres), the bonnet opens to reveal an engine (as acurate as I could build), the glove-box opens, the steering wheel is tilt adjustable, the ambulance gerny has the proton pack rack on it and can be removed (also has wheels). The "chrome" rails on the bonnet where incredibly difficult but turned out nicely. Probably used more parts than I needed but I wanted it to be stable. The front end took two days to do alone (to get it looking just right). Of all my creations this is the one I most want to buy. 1824 pieces, AUD $504, 2 weeks, 1 big headache!
Dimensions: 16W x 48L x 14H

About this creation
... made using all buyable pieces
... ECTO 1 is actually a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor limo-style endloader combination car ambulance conversion. I did try to use hinges to make the downward angle of the shoulder at the reat cleaner... alas... it wasn't to be
... everything that opens on a real car opens on this one too, even the glove-box
... I did try very hard to make proton packs that would fit in the rack but was not possible with the buyable pieces in LDD
... space LEGO pieces are good for "equipment"
... I used a Mini-fig jackhammer for a PKE metre, you'll also find four walkietalkies in the back
... when I buy this creation (not "if I buy this creation") I plan to have all the necessary pieces nickel-electro plated (it's not chrome people, the plastic would melt) and some custom stickers made.
...the bonnet bump was unavoidable, there are NO floating bricks in this MOC, who can guess how I made the bonnet "rails"?
Just found out that Ghostbusters 3 (good news) is being written by the same two who wrote Year One (bad news), I really hope GB3 doesn't suck.
Please rate and comment, I put a lot of time into this and I'm eager to know what people think

you don't have to say I am better than you dude! your design is excellent! regards - Jay ^^
but you are more patient, there is no way I'd have the patients to put a mini fig sized battle ship together |

You did an excellent job on the ecto 1, it definitely looks like you've put alot of time in it. Do you have the instructions to build it? If so is there way I can obtain it?
I would like to be the one to build this since I've put so much time into it, thanks for your comment though |

This is great! The shape is spot-on.
I just wish people would recognize LDD, it seems like if its LDD, nobody cares. Great moc though! |

that's a good one but it wasn't big enough for me. If you do a google image search for LEGO ECTO 1 you'll get a lot of results |

I didn't see this one before, this one is pretty good, just why did you put that thing on top though? It adds to the feel, but I forgot what it is. The front and the fact that all the doors open is awesome. Great moc! ~Waff |
