General Evarius was once a brilliant commander in the armies of the Crownlands. However, despite many victories over the undead legions that once assailed his homeland, a conniving nobleman falsely accused Evarius of treason. The king, unwilling to execute a man who had done so much for his nation, but unable to refute the charges, sentences Evarius to lifetime imprisonment on the Forlorn Island, a remote prison consisting of a single cell built in the middle of the sea. However, the orcs have now come down from their mountain homes to threaten the Crownlands. Evarius has been granted a royal pardon, if only he will take up arms again to defend his beleaguered lands. Unfortunately, Evarius's gaoler is a disgraced knight loyal to the nobleman who accused the general. To ensure the general's release, the king has sent a warship, the Invictus, to accompany the royal messenger and charged the Royal Admiral to see to it that the king's will is obeyed.
