Here is my entry into the Mech category for the team "Triangulate This!"
About this creation
While I didn't want to give away too much of my Devil's Triangle story I have going on, I didn't think it was fair to my team to complete that story line before getting a jump on this competition. Therefore I will reveal a main character of my plot before his proper introduction.
After a few years of heavy fighting against the Atlantians, it was determined the resistance needed some heavy duty armor.
Tesla originally designed the first prototype to assist in mining of raw materials. It was quickly determined that the power armor needed more firepower. He removed the right arm and installed a lighter version of his "death ray".
Tesla also installed grenades in the palm of the left arm.
And "flick-fire missiles" for good measure. ;P
Please note the storage of the fins for the resistance fighter to use if he is forced to bail out. The lights help see in the depths of the Atlantis region.
Commentary: While I didn't want to give away that Tesla is one of my characters, I thought it only fitting to mention that he designed this beast. I thought I was going to be able to claim it was the only underwater Mech I've seen.....and then Nannan posted his right as I was uploading my pics from my camera.....go figure.
Thanks to my team mates who allowed me to try out the Mech category, even after I freely admitted to them it was a weak point. I think that is really the purpose of these types of competitions, so I appreciate them allowing that freedom for me to attempt.
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks for checking it out!!
Gets hard when you have to publicly 'rate' a moc of someone that you like. But I have to agree with the other judges - I cannot give it more than a two. The rigid arms and spindly legs do detract. Lee.
I thought about this one for a couple of hours. It's a decent MOC but nothing really put it over the top for me. Now, if you had put it in an Atlantis environment like Nannan did, it would be a different story. As it is, I award 2 points.
Sorry to bring bad news, man! It's a pretty sweet thing to look at, but it has some critical weaknesses as far as mechs go. The leg design is basic to say the least, and the completely rigid arms, that if installed lower and hinged on the middle would give a sense of firepower, up there turn this thing into a goofy-looking Frankenstein monster... too bad, it's only 2 points from me.
