RAPTOR
After what seemed like an eternity, my LDD baby has finally been born. I present to you: The Raptor (or, as it is officially known by the USRG, the MT-1/CV Light Attack Reconnaissance Vehicle).
About this creation
Since I was pretty proud of my digital accomplishment, I went for the whole nine yards and ordered the parts through DesignByMe. I don't know if any of you have done that before, but its awesome. As you can see, the custom packaging is quite nice (nicer than it used to be, by far) and you'll also notice I originally designed the Raptor in jet black. As I built the Raptor however, I made it bley so that it would photograph better. Still, the high-def digital rendering from LEGO is quite impressive.

Ahh. Awesomesauce in a box. Except for the wheels, I was already playing with those.

Let's take a look at the finished product before we go into any detail. Nice and sleek, plenty tough, and loads of features. I am particularly fond of the "tow hooks" I put in the front. The whip areal - sorry, got a all British on you there - the whip antenna looks pretty cool too I think. And of course, it has my trademark lime green seating.

Here's a shot of what I considered the toughest part of the build. The roll cage. Goodness, it makes me sad when I think of how much of my life I spent figuring out a way to build this part of the vehicle. I needed it to look tough, but sleek. It took waaay to long. But, I think it turned out quite nice

These next two shots show a little gull-wing action I built into the roll cage, for you DeLorean lovers out there. I would love to show you the flux capacitor, but I'm afraid it's classified :-)

Here's the gun deck with a built-in turntable for mounting heavy weapons.

Speaking of heavy weapons, let's talk hardware, shall we? Up first, the infamous .50 MG. (for you, Brick Freak)

My .50 MG has an armored shield for the gunner and a side-mounted ammo crate. Since it was Brick Freak's love affair with this large-caliber juggernaut that inspired me to build the weapon, I even incorporated an element from Brick Freak's own .50 into my design. Can you spot it?

The .50 adds a menacing look to the Raptor from the front and back views.

My other option for high-speed off-road death-dealing tools of destruction? Well, it's the gas-operated semi-automatic 102mm GAUSS canon, of course...

...complete with side-mounted magazine and targeting array.

This bad boy adds a whole new level of scary to the Raptor.

Almost forgot! As promised, the Hi-Lift Jack. Jacking the Raptor....up high.

And finally, here's a comparison of the Raptor - side-by-side with the MT-3/CV. And what a cute couple they make.

Hmm, someone's been playing Halo. But of course I kid. What an excellent fast attack vehicle. I like it! That said, it, is perhaps, a bit steep in terms of the slope gradient (yeah, I'm just that nerdy).

Great vehicle! I agree with you! That's not fair to wait for 21 days! That's torture! LOL! When I wait for a big order, I'm still making some "upgrades" sometimes... That also come 21 days later! =(

Quoting Colin J Jesus Christ!!! You spent $80 on that thing!
No. Back then, DbM sets were packaged and sorted differently, and, being relatively unproven at the time, were much more reasonably priced. It was thirty-something.

the design and the details are awesome. Usually I don't use that word because on mocpages it's as random as clones, but hearing/reading it from me therefore something valuable. And this is better than any warthog, for sure.

Quoting Carter W. Oh, Uh btw, i'm pretty sure that i started the awesomesauce trend.I started saying Awesomesauce before even hearing it before, and then my friends started using it, so i might possibly be the creator of it! Sorry about the rant-esque comment...
errm.... I'm twenty three and Ive been hearing/using the term since at least six years old. I have also heard it used in movies, tv, etc. You may very well have thought of it without hearing anyone else use it, but trust me, it's been around longer than you have mate. it's just too cool of a term to die off I expect.

its "minifig +" lol. and how do you know it's too big? it's a non-existent vehicle, correct? haha, not to be argumentative, just posing a philosophical question.

Quoting Lee Jones LDD is nice, but there is nothing like having the real thing is there. Kind of like looking at that girl on the internet with your mouse in your hand, versus having her in your arms. Nice job on this, really like the details on the rollbars. Lee.
funny you should put it that way - I met my girlfriend online before actually dating. While that relationship is going on three years now, Im sad to say the MT-1 was not so long-lived. It already lies in parts, sorted into my brick boxes. Hey, I recycle! Thanks for the feedback!

Quoting Brick Freak Current tyres are 30.4x14. Perfect for the current size of the truck. Then it's 43.2x22 which is too large, even for a four seater.
hmmmm... and you can't order from the net yet?

Quoting Brick Freak The reason why i want those tyres so badly is that I'm planning on making a 4 seater assault truck. The current model only seats 2. If i extend the cabin, pretty much moving the suspension and wheels back a stud or two, the current wheels would be too small, and would give the vehicle a streched look which I dont want. Bottom line, bigger tyres matches longer vehicle.
you've got good design sense my friend. what other tire options do you have?

Quoting Harrison Kelly is it supposed to be a variation of a warthog?? i probably could have read it and found out but i didnt want to read...
meh, warthog-inspired. other than that, there were no intentions on my part to build an actual "warthog" (as I truly believe the 1,000,000+ across MOCpages is enough). I simply liked the sleek look of the vehicle, and used it to build something with my own artistic license.
