Three dimensionalization of a LEGO Idea book Rooster.
About this creation
I posed the challenge to my 9-year-old daughter this past weekend to re-interpret a photograph of a flat (a 2-stud wide) rooster from an old LEGO idea book (Link to Peeron Scan of Idea Book) as a fully three-dimensional sculpture. Later the following afternoon she had finished. This model is the result of the challenge. The height and length of her model is the same as the height and length of the example. The difference is she has made many choices as to the depth of her model. She also chose to add some detail along the way to enhance the result. As you can see, the color scheme is also the same. I think this was a good exercise, and would be for anyone who desires to get some experience in elemental sculpture. Some further ideas the you might consider if you would like to take up a similar challenge would be to choose another model from the Idea book and then try doubling the size. Or you might try doubling the size and but still use smaller pieces thus increasing the 'resolution' of the final model...There are really lots of challenges that you could dream up here.
Note: I have included a photograph of the original flat rooster from the LEGO Idea book.
