Confederate Ship Aoyama, container freighter, built to MASS.
About this creation
The Confederate Ship Aoyama (CL-2209-GCLPS-BCI-175) was commisioned in 2209 by CLPS from BC Inc. She was one of the first pure container ships, built at the dawn of an era, and to the modular standard previously adopted by most Confederate Worlds.
A fast freighter operating short routes between the Confederate League's core planets, her career under CLPS lasted almost 40 years. Replaced in 2235 by more efficient cargo ships, the Aoyama was sold back to BC Inc, and still operates non-commercial routes under the latter company's colors.
Here, she is bearing a BC Inc color scheme.
---
The Aoyama (Named after Motoko Aoyama, again, from Akamatsu's "Love Hina") is another result of my developing of the MASS system. She incorporates a system to carry standard train containers, as well as a system to carry Wegmullerian containers, as seen in MASS link.
The ship is largely a useful rebuild of the Springfield, an open hull freighter. However, the Aoyama can actually carry 6 Wegmullerians and 32 train crates while the Springfield was generally incapable of carrying anything, unless it was in theory. One can see the evolution of the MASS system between the two ships.
The Aoyama thus clocks in at 170 studs in length, though almost 100 of those studs are from the ship's cargo modules, and about 45 studs in width. Her engines come almost directly from the engines in my MASS demonstration, as do the front two cargo elements. She also has fully functional landing gear, and limited swooshability due to the cable tensioning the two ends.
I have not actually tried to load all 6 Wegmullerians and 32 train containers on the ship.

Figurehead! She's supposed to have a katana, but I do not possess any katana pieces. Such a pity, I'm sure.

I'd think that was a com tower. But what of those arrows? You'd think they'd know which end was front.

A good view of the cab.
Ok, maybe not so good, but I tried.

A good view of the back of the cab.
No really, this one actually is.
You can see that cargo section, C, too.

Directional thrusters. I should have put it at the front, but I wanted my figurehead.

Wegmullerian - if you don't know the term, you didn't read the MASS link - container fitting.

Yeah, that's right. The power of MASS lets me drop things at will. Now she's a faster courier.

This is a good example of your MASS concept. |

The entire creation is simply utterly super-kickass - but what I really like is the very compact living quarters module - this is a concept I've been keen to explore for a while now; you just mighta inspired me to get building! |
