Karlsruher Schloss, located in Karlsruhe, Germany, was built in 1715. It was destroyed in World War II, but rebuilt shortly after. The city of Karlsruhe was planned with the tower of the palace at the center, with streets radiating out from the palace like the spokes on a wheel or the ribs of a fan, giving Karlsruhe the nickname "Faecherstadt", or "Fan City".
I chose to build the Karlsruher Schloss (English: Karlsruhe Castle or Palace), because I'm quite familiar with it. Every year when I visit my relatives in Germany I see it many times, so I thought it would be a good subject for the LEGO Architecture category. The angles give it a unique shape, and it also has a distinctive yellow color.
