This is my Mosaic entry for the MOCathalon for the Triangulate This! team.
About this creation
This is my first Mosaic. I was really scared of this category, and can't say I'd ever really revisit it either. I think I can freely admit that it's just not my knack. But I thought I should give it my best shot. This was inspired by my wife's recent trip to Oregon where she went to a neat little white house surrounded by flowers.
I must say this category is a doozy. It was a pain to build mine because of lack of large baseplates. I tried that 2-level mosaic myself to give it a bit if depth. I do have to thank Kelso for the sheep idea; that made it less painful to build. I'd also say you tackled this category well. I bet none of your teammates wanted it... XD
Well, I went surfing the web to see if there is any precedence for more three dimensional mosaics, and there are some. Now I will agree you are dancing with different possible artistic categories; however, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and award three (3) points. Lee.
Oh yeah, I remember when we were walking there...wait, what? LMAO It's great, dude, love the 3D effect. It reminds me of these little 8x10 shadow-box mosaics my grandparents had on their walls, made with little branches for logs, moss for trees and bushes, pebbles for rocks, etc.; they even had one with a lighthouse. You are a braver man than I to give this one a go and I like the results!~H
