Dawn of Infinity - Design lineage
Evolution of shipdesign (so far...)
About this creation
Phase I

Dawn of Infinity is a heavy cruiser, designed to lead a fleet of ships into battle.
Along with her role as command-ship, the Dawn is able to serve as a heavy warship. It is powered by a zero-point-energy-core. Keysystem of FTL-travel is the jumpdrive, which actually can't be seen. Characteristic for the Dawn are the huge, blue glowing sub-light engines.
Dawn of Infinity is armed with 32 turbolasers, 8 heavy particle-cannons and 20 massdrivers, which can also be used to launch rockets.

The Dawn is equipped with two large dockingbays, allowing her to service and maintenance smaler ships, such as frigates and smaller medical-ships, in a limited scale.

Phase II

A refitted version of the Dawn of Infinity. The front part has been redesigned and looks sleeker now.

The downside of the ship has been completely new designed. The most peculiar change is the big pod beneath the engines. The massive hull provides armor in battles and extra shielding for atmospheric entrance. The Pod also houses sensors and service systems for the ship and support thrusters.
The sublight engines of the Dawn have been upgraded to a more powerfull version. Due to the new systems the engeneering decks had to be enlarged.
The bottom massdriver is now located in a small tower. The drivers on top are now housed in weapons-pod.
The positions of some turbolasers have proven to be inefficient in combat. The new front section features 5 more turrets on each side. Also there are additional turrets in the mid-section and in the back of the ship, increasing the overall number of turbolasers to 44.

Now two scorpion class escort-frigates are permanently assigned to the ship.

Phase III

The most recent design-version. The enlarged front-section contains space for more crewquarters, cargoholds and advanced combat and intelligence facilities.
It also houses 4 additional, forwardpointing massdrivers and 2 turbolasers.
On top of the ship a second weapons-pod has been added.

The engine-decks have again increased size, holding some addional service- facilities.

Whoa. Sweet ship. You have a knack for working with the black and white. I like the improvements you made from the original design. Overall, I like the long, slim look you have going here. Nice work!
