Industrialist Pond Strider
An entry into the 2010 mech contest under the category of SteamPunk. Hope you all enjoy it.
About this creation
The Pond Strider was an invention created in the late 1800's but only technologically feasible in early 200 I.E (Industrial Era, started after the industrial apocalypse in the late 2200's) The Industrialists designed it mainly as a toy for the pleasure of the younger nobles, but it soon found a military application for use against the rebel factions on the eastern borders of the Industrialist settlements. It was first put into action in late 220 I.E, however it was not overly feasible as a fighting vehicle and mainly found use as a shock tactic for its ability to move along the water much the same as a pond strider, thus the name.

We will start off our showing with a view of the front:

And one of the left side:

The rear:

A top view:

A close up of the lightning gather device and smoke stack:

And one of the main cannon, the Tesla Cannon:

On to some details about the vehicle itself:
Max speed: 10 km an hour, it is not very quick, so an easy target for the rebel airocorps.
Armament: It is armed with two small lightning throwers at the side, two small cannon, and a main Tesla Cannon.
Armor: Not really any to speak of as it would make it sink into the water, also making it an even easier target for the R.A.
Crew: 1 or 2 crew members, but usually one as the second is either a back up or cannon fodder.
Other equipment: It has a main boiler, an armory in the below decks, and a Lightning gatherer which gathers the forces of nature to use as a weapon, another reason this particular design is not overly used.

I tried to make this model look far more industrial then artful, as I wanted to represent Industrialist views from my story in this model. I resolved not to buy any pieces for this contest, so I probably could have done a lot more for the overall design, but I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. Thank you for reading this, and i hope you enjoyed viewing my latest creation.

2 points. Presentation is a bit weak and the fact that the MECH cannot stand on its own is a drawback.

Quoting Matthew David Again, I'll ad a point for it being your first entry: I award a sturdy 3 pts total. Nothing really stood out, and the colors didn't exactly scream steampunk (understandable if your limited by parts, I for one have no brown), but not a bad build.
Thanks, I guess I just strayed from the traditional to much on this one^^" I tried it in gray and black because thats the Industrialist national colors, and I wanted it to kind of stand out.....And I didn't have a single brown piece left from my ships-.- But thank you for giving it a three, better then i thought it would get with having to put in a support, ah well. Maybe if I somehow manage an entry for all the others then I can take another crack and do it better. The best part of building is good or bad, its experience.

I know, the gorram hinge pieces acted like crap on this one...only time they've ever failed me. I really hated that part of this mech.

Stability is definitely an issue, and the top part looks incomplete almost. Though, it's a good idea and it does have a lot of potential. I score this 2 points.

3 Points, the only thing holding it back from is that it can not stand on its own, the stand really ruined it for me
