Gladiator Class Mecha, Centurion
This is my (hopefully) redeeming entry in the 2010 mech contest under the category of Unmanned Mech.
About this creation
Centurion was a battle mecha designed to do one thing and one thing only, and that was fight in what the locals called the hell pits of Kodor. All he knew in his life was the death of other fellow mecha, ripping them apart piece by piece for the glory and entertainment of human overlords. One day, however, was different in the fact that he was visited by a strange old man who kept calling him "my child" instead of his usual maintenance chief. As the man worked he told him that he was the one who had invented the gladiator robots, and he was a new prototype, meant to break free, and experience the feeling of freedom. As the man talked, he uploaded a new A.I. into the mecha, one capable of thinking exactly like a human, and walked off to disappear without a trace. When Centurion asked about him no one knew what he was talking about, or whether there was even an old man on the pit crews. Later, in the arena, something unusual happened. During his match with the reigning champion, he knew that the fight was wrong. As he finished his match in victory, and for that moment the security fences went down, he made his break, escaping out through the main gate, and blasting his way through the humans security forces that tried to capture him. He lived in the under city for a few years, until he was discovered by a group of orphans who had thought him just a piece of junk to play on. He befriended one of them, and the child escorted him to a refueling station and got him back into working order enough so that he was able to move perfectly on his own. However during that short happy time the Teldorins attacked the planet, and started an orbital bombardment followed by ground invasions across the surface, escorted by combat mecha much stronger then the Kodorians had ever seen before. One such army attacked the city which Centurion was hiding in and threatened the children under his care, to the point that he remembered his old times of combat and struck out, destroying one of them with what looked to be an ancient Electroblade of some sort. While the children ran into hiding he held the charge, and even joined the human armies to protect the planet, ending in his death when he self destructed to take with him the leader of the Teldorin attacks, General Cosark. A monument to him stands in the slums to this day, showing him fully illuminated and surrounded by a group of children.

I'm going to start off with a front view of Centurion:

And now one of his left side with the gladiator blade:

His back, which is heavily armored to protect from sneak attacks:

His right side, displaying his shield from the days when he was a gladiator, he kept it as a reminder and to protect those he cared about:

A closer image of the shield:

And a close up of the sword as well.

And I realized that Mech Man was right, so without further ado, his new Electroblade. I got a little piratey with other mocs to build it:

And a closer view of it:

A bit of information about Centurion:
Armor: An unkown substance, supposedly invented by a scientist under the alias of "The Liberator"
Armament: A standard Tiridium alloy shield and an Electroblade, also of unknown make. His secondary armament, shown in most of the pics, is his original gladiators arena blade. He got the Electroblade at a later date in time after his escape from the arenas.
Other equipment: He is standardly outfitted with an electronic scanning eye, able to see the full spectrum a human is able to, as well as infrared, and night vision, as well as a voice box, which is an unusual inclusion in a gladiator mecha.

other notes: I was inspired to build this mecha by a story I am currently working on, and I thought it would be nice to be able to represent the main character of it with Lego bricks. I hope you all enjoyed the short summary of the story, as well as the pictures, thanks for looking!

Quoting Alex Mac I really love that head! Besides the word, it's definitely my favorite part! I've always looked at mechs as hulking, grey, cannon-ridden, war machines, but you've shown me otherwise.
Thank you so much, I'm very glad you like it! When building this I wanted to try something different and the head sort of inspired the whole design:D

Quoting Mister Bones I score a 3. Nice job overall, the shield was a nice touch. You have shown some skill, I would suggest you slow it down a bit as this is not a race. If you spend some time on your next Mech, I bet you would do a great job on it.
its not that I try to go overly quick, or that I am racing to put out as much as possible, but because I have so few pieces I am able to build rapidly on a basis of limited selection. I do put thought into this butt because most of them are like 300-400 pieces it doesn't take me at all long to build them really.....I built this guy at least 3 times before submitting him to make sure I liked it. And thank you both for the threes.

Quoting Mr. Rahkshi8000 The thing that I really like about this mech is that it almost has an old-school, classic feel to it, which you deliver by using a lot of normal bricks and slopes. The head design is also interesting. Some of the proportions are a little bit off, specifically the feet and the head. The shoulder area also looks vulnerable when looking at the mech from the back. I'm going to score this a 3 - great entry.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it^^ I do try for a fairly original feel in my bipedal mecha, I never really liked the look of the overly hyper evolved ones^^"
